OK, by progressive overload do you mean, more weight with each set, or increasing my weight the next time I workout as I get stronger?

Also, what do you mean by volume?

well by all means, let me google that for you

So by volume do you mean you want me to use weights that take up more space rather than the more dense variety?
It is not as simple as google.

The weights take up more space? What?

    Just...

    What?

You are getting more from the pushups because you are able to tax muscle fibers that you normally don't using higher volume training. The reason you don't get sore from the benches currently is because I think you haven't learned to recruit all the pectoral muscle fibers during the excercise. When you truly are able to recruit your muscles and go to failure on the bench you will get more sore than pushups. Push ups are good for endurance and tone. Nobody gets a strong bench from pushups. You can only do so much with partial body weight. Just my opinion of course.

I think we can all agree that there are some plates that occupy nearly identical volumes yet because of the material they are made of and/or the amount of air inside of them the have a different weight on the earth.

but are those plates made up of muscle or out of fat?

I do think that my bench press weight is limited by my relatively weak triceps and elbows. I feel like my pecs could handle so much more.

Yes your pecs can handle much more than triceps. Just look at the volume of muscle a pec has compared to a tricep. But you can also increase your press with chest AND tricep workouts. These two groups work together in unison for the lift as well as delts.

Also, angle of attack on the bench can dramatically increase your lift as well. keeping an arch in back with butt on bench and legs driving into the ground for support.

Oh hey. My *kitten* is on fire after doing 3 sets of weighted hip thrusts, 10-12. On the other hand I can do 3 to 4 sets of BW hip thrusts before my butt starts to hurt. What does this mean? Please include diagrams.

i'll send the proper diagrams right after you send me to proper photos of what we're working with

This seems fair. Pictures should arrive promptly

That's very normal. Remember when you were an adolescent and growing? How you hurt in different places? That was because you had "growing pains" and that's what you have when you do push-ups or, for that matter, any exercise. And push-ups certainly hit the pecs.

Why no it means, you may need to get a bigger head to accommodate it soon .
