Weak wrist

I have just started out doing some bodyweight exercises, but my right wrist is really letting me down. For example, doing push ups, my arms and left wrist can support me fine, but my right wrist feels like it is going to give out any second and hurts. Its been like this for quite a while, so not a new injury, are there any exercises I can do to help strengthen my wrist?

Just keep up with your resistance training, and do it carefully and incrementally. I had this problem 2 years ago when I started. If I leaned back on my hand I sometimes felt like my wrist was gonna snap.

You have to do some kind of weight training. Bodyweight is fine, dumbbells would be great, anything where you can do strength training. Your bones will strengthen as long as you put in the effort, eat plenty and don't do anything to risk injury. Go safe and incremental and just keep going. If it honestly hurts, don't do it.

I haven't felt this kind of bone weakness in a while. Remember with strength training your bones will get denser. Just give it time and effort.

awesome thank you :) I have some barbells, so I'll work them in. Glad to hear it gets better as you get stronger!

I found that as your forearms get stronger, the wrist issues subside. Until then, try push up stands. They'll change the position so you're not putting so much stress on your wrists.

I have a simlair problem and wear wrist straps for my bench and overhed press. As for bodyweight supported exercises it helps to be sure your wrist/hand is in a neutral position, so it helps if when you do exercises like push ups to get hex ended dumbells (so they don't roll) and grip those as your doing your push ups. Hope that makes sense!
