Suffering from gastritis/oesophagitis

Hoping for some guidance - having been feeling awful for days, went to doc and was diagnosed with the above, meaning my oesophagus lining is inflamed and leaking acid. I have been given two weeks worth of pills but am struggling with eating at the moment because everything seems to make me feel awful.
In the wake of some horrible experiences this weekend, I have decided to avoid spicy foods (obviously!) and dairy and most vegetables for the next couple of weeks until I'm better and stick to plain and starchy foods that I think my body can tolerate, like plain bread, plain chicken and so on. But I don't want to lose weight through starvation - today my friend forced me to eat some of the aforementioned and bumped my calories up to 550ish. Any ideas for really, really plain stuff that won't make it worse?

I had the same thing about 5 months ago...it was the worst feeling ever. I would feel so bloated and have bad stomach pains all day, every day. During the days that I had no idea what it was, I survived on crackers, Greek yogurt, bread, rice, oatmeal, bananas and hours with my heating pad. After my endoscopy and diagnosis, I took prescription strength Zantac and Prilosec (one in morning and one at night). Went away after about 3 weeks of that.
Unfortunately, I dont have any suggestions on what to eat to not lose weight and not cause symptoms! . I just wanted to let ya know that I feel your pain!
Hope you feel better soon!!0 -
Depending on how you feel: rice, applesauce, yogurt, potatoes, bananas0

Weirdly, I had an endoscopy two weeks ago to check for something else - I'm wondering if this was set off by that, as they didn't find anything like this then! Thanks so much for the sympathy - I will give the crackers and the rice a go Even bananas are scaring me right now! I've been put on metoclopramide (3x a day) and omeprazole (2x a day) for the next two weeks.0 -
