Okay so I may be just a little crazy, I've never been much of one for running. It tends to bother my knees and honestly I've just never felt that great doing it. Spin and strength training have really helped me knees and something in me wants to start the C25K.
Suggestions?
I've downloaded the training app to my phone but honestly the last time I did any type of running on purpose was when I was in high school on the track team.

when you get started do not worry about speed..just worry about making it through the workouts...youll get stronger as you progress..
I would say and youll likely here it from other people to get yourself some good running shoes...but before i shelled out any money I would make sure its something that is going to stick for you...no point in spending money if they are going to sit in the closet...but if you get started and love it...yea get fitted for good shoes.0 -
Biggest tip, besides a decent pair of shoes is yes, GO SLOW. If you can't talk and keep up a conversation without getting out of breath, you're going too fast. You will feel like you are barely moving in the beginning but that's what your body needs to train itself to go longer and longer spurts each time. Speed will come as you get out more and more! There is a group board here and lots of random threads for inspiration if you need it. Share your accomplishments and feel proud each time you get out there and try. I use the Zenlabs app and really enjoy it and you can sync your own music list to it also. Having a great playlist helps pass the time. And wear an armband so you can't watch the timer on the app you use, it will drive you buggy0

Take it slowly. Don't try to go to too quickly. Get fitted for running shoes. I'm sure others will have more advice. Good luck!0

So which is better, doing it outside or inside on a treadmill?0

Depends on the person. I find running outside more enjoyable plus it's easier to adjust your pace if you need to slow down. I like to look around at the different scenery to keep my mind occupied when it gets tough. Some people like to use a treadmill because it's in their home and convenient and they feel they keep a more consistent pace. But personally, I find looking at the same place on the wall boring. Maybe if I had a tv in front of my treadmill I'd feel slightly different... :happy:0

OP, if running tends to bother your knees, I would recommend that you focus on your running form from the very beginning. Check out ChiRunning and/or Pose Running Method for good info on proper running form.0
