New and inept

I joined MFP about a week and a half ago. I am doing this because I recently bought a size 20 and it dang near killed me! I hate how winded I get doing the simplest tasks. My knees hurt, my back hurts, my feet hurts...the list goes on. I want to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see. I have three best friends who are doing a diabetic type low carb, low sugar lifestyle change. They are about two months ahead of me in this and have lost several lbs. they give me lots of insights, but I feel like I need more information on what types if foods to eat because I tend to get bored eating the same thing.

I am really loving MFP so far. I have not missed a day of logging and have already lost 4lbs!!! For the first time I feel like I am making healthier choices that make sense and I am doing it for the right reasons. I even started doing yoga...in the privacy of my home. Maybe one day I will have the guts to do it at a gym!
