RUNNERS KNEE?

I thought maybe someone could help me with this.... I run 15-20 miles a week and just recently learned that you should replace your shoes every 300-600 miles. Well, I've had mine for 5 years. SO I immediately went out and got a really soft cushioned pair recommended for distance runners. Now my knee is KILLING me. I heard that when you change shoes it can alter your stride and affect your joints.... so, do I go back to my old worn out shoes? Or go buy harder shoes with less cushioning that are more like my old pair? Or suffer until it goes away with the new pair? I go crazy when I can't run... so any insight would be nice.

Go get a patellar tendonitis strap. They're pretty cheap at sporting good stores. Should help you get through the shoes. Ice Ice Ice and taking some sort of anti-inflammatory for the time being.0

You could also look at insoles rather then replacing the shoe, they have many varieties to fit different needs at running or sporting goods stores.0

The strap usually works for patellar tendonitis. I'm an athletic trainer and that's what all my athletes and patients get. Ice and advil help also.0 -
Are the new shoes you bought the proper ones for your running style? Just because they are new and cushiony doesnt mean they are right for your particular foot style.0

Can you buy the exact same shoe or brand as your old ones? It seems like that one worked for you :-)0
