Add a Pear to my Salad?

I brought a salad for lunch... and I also brought a pear.

My salad is lettuce, onion, green pepper, mozzarella cheese, roma tomato, & zesty italian dressing.

Should I add the pear to my salad?

I love fruit on salad, especially with vinegar based dressing, so I say Yes! Most definitely.

I probably would eat the pear on the side. If the salad had bacon, cheddar, pecans and a sweeter-type vinaigrette, I'd throw the pear in.

But the flavor profile of your current salad just doesn't seem to complement a pear.

But that's just me... do what you want!

My staple (read, almost daily) salad is mixed greens, yellow tomatoes, strawberries, pear, craisins, blue cheese, and strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. So good.

I wouldn't...the green pepper and pear aren't a complimentary flavor profile...My most requested salad is a poached pear in dry red wine with cinnamon and cloves over mixed greens and Camembert cheese, candied bacon crumbles and red wine vinaigrette...

Sounds like I should just leave it out. Maybe next time I'll use my raspberry vinagrette dressing Sans onion/green pepper and try it.

you could slice it on the side and have a nibble along with your salad - if it's bleugh you leave the rest for afterwards!

HURRAH!!! I LOVE fruit in a salad - unless it's grapefruit which was put on this earth to destroy me.

On topic with the whole 'fruit in salad' thing, I hate canteloupe (sp?). DETEST IT. Then my friend made a mixed green salad with onions, strawberries, the dreaded melon, a delicious sweet/tangy dressing, and some sort of seedly bits...and it was heavenly. I couldn't believe what I was eating. Everything complimemted each other so perfect, that I realised I couldeloupe if the conditions were right.
