sometimes it just seems impossible for me that I will reach my goal weight.I have been using this site faithfully for almost 2 months and I have lost inches.I started at 150 but I am now down to. 145 .which is gradul.however my goal weight is 120 and I am 5'3.I will see how I feel at 130.if I am happy I will stay there but I am aiming for 125 to 120.For some reason ut seems impossible that I will see that number on the scale. Why does it seem impossible that we will eventually to reach your our goal weight?

i dont do goal weight but i do have a goal size. when i reach that size (6) i really dont care what the scale says.
and yep i can visualize pretty well reaching my goal size. i have been finding some fitspo on the interwebs for women with siilar body types as me who are close to are at my goal size.0 -
because alot of us have spent the better part of our lives being overweight, its hard to get into that mentality that we could actually achieve what many of us have striven for in the past, to get down to that goal weight. its seems very daunting, but the best we can do is to continue to make forward progress (which obviously you are doing, kudos!) and eventually we will make it there
for now, dont focus too much on the scale. eat within your limits, keep exercising, and you know that you'll eventually make it to where you want to be.0 -
I know how that feels. I've been overweight almost my entire life. Just don't lose hope, you'll get there as long as you continue to eat right and exercise. I'm 5'3'' and have weighted on average about 165 lbs. After getting pregnant with my oldest son, I hit 185. Two years after giving birth to my oldest I hit my goal weight of 115. Then I got pregnant again and gained it all back two years later. I'm slowly on my way to my goal weight once more. You can do this!0

I found life to become much more enjoyable when I started focusing more on living a healthful life and developing sustainable, healthful habits to take with me into perpetuity and thought less about some arbitrary number on the scale. It is those healthful habits that will ultimately help you maintain your weight when you do happen to get there. Being at a healthy weight is ultimately a bi-product of living a healthful life; weight loss really shouldn't be your be all and end all reason for doing what you're doing.
In Sept it will be 2 years for me with about 15 months of maintenance...it has flown by and like I said...things became much more enjoyable when I stopped obsessing about some arbitrary number.0 -
I have felt the same way recently. I started out at 147 (at 5'3) on 6/10 and am down to 138 now. I would like to be down to 131 by the time my vacation rolls around in September but I'm not so sure that's going to happen (also I'm scared that I am thinking I'll look fantastic (compared to now) at 131 and that once I get there I might not!). I feel like that's okay if I don't but I know I will be disappointed if I feel like lard in the cute swimsuits I bought...and that would probably not help much in the motivation department. I'm just trying to keep positive and just work until I get to where I want to be. The only way I won't meet my goal is if I give up before it's met.0

I only have a small amount to lose, 15 pounds so yes, i can imagine that in about 2-3 months0

This me now too...
I could at first..my GW was 10lbs heavier than my 2nd...then I was like eh lets try for prebaby weight...hit that...lost another 5lbs...
but in the middle of all that it became more about sizes, measurments, BF% and weight...now since i did hit goal weight I look in the mirror and am happy...but it's because I am healthy from exercise, not sore from moving and can do so much more because of my exercise (weight lifting and cardio) ...what I can't see is me ever going back....
ETA: scale weight + measurments + bf% + clothing size + how you feel = goal0 -
Envision small steps first, like one size down at a time. You will lose the weight, just keep on going. I still have "fat brain" and feel like I'm still big and not 39 lbs lighter.0
-
I'm with you - I can't "see" myself at my goal - I mean I haven't been there in 15 years! No wonder I can't see it... but I do dream about how I'm going to feel and my confidence level that I'm sure I will have when I get back there....
I just keep moving forward... that's all I can do.0 -

I been at it for 2 1/2 years now and still have a few vanity pounds to get off. I know it seems like forever, but it will happen. Slow and steady!! Good luck!! :flowerforyou:0 -

I struggle with this. Mostly because everyone says to lose a pound a week. So you calculate that out. Then you don't lose a pound a week. You'll lose 2lbs one week. A half an ounce the next. Then you gain 5lbs for no reason. Then lose a pound. Then you look and see you're in no way on schedule with the one pound a week preached. All people really can say to this is "weight loss isn't linear." Yeah, cool story bro. And the worst part is most of the "advice" being given is being given by some guy/girl who's shredded. Of course they're ok with "weight loss isn't linear" and "just be patient" mantras they chant. They're trying to lose 3lbs to expose some vein they can almost see but not quite see because, ya know, seeing that vein will change their lives.0

I am very close to the 60 kg goal weigth I have... but still can't image myself there. Never could. Sometimes, I still se the old fat me in the mirror.
But I'm still going on... don't know why.
Well, now I don't have a goal weight. I just wanna lose until I don't have juggly fat on my thighs and my belly doesn't stick out. It doesn't matter what weigth the scale says or the size on my clothes. I just wanna have the extra fat away.0 -
I've been overweight (more or less) for my entire life. While I'm having a hard time picturing how I'll look once I get there, I sure know it'll be a great day!0

I'm pretty close to the weight I determined as my goal but when I first set that goal I thought I was insane, didn't think I'd ever reach it. Now I'm a little over 12 pounds(as of this morning)from reaching that goal. However, that said, I'm small enough as far as height goes(4'11")that I could still lose more than those 12 pounds and still be healthy because I'm not just picking a number from the sky, I want health above vanity.0

Ive hit my goal weight about 2 months ago, i love it. I still catch myself in the mirror and have to do a double take im proud of myself. You will get there soon and love it too x0

I understand what you mean. I've lost 50+ lbs and have 30+ to go. I've been in this a long time and still cannot picture myself at my goal weight. I think a small part of me still doesn't even really believe I can do it.0
-
I can imagine getting there, I have done it many times. I cant imagine staying there. I cannot believe I can maintain. I hope I can believe I have found a different way to eat and it is possible. I have found a different way of living and have been told it is possible to live this way. I sure hope so.0

Um...usually that person is thin NOW, but you should take a closer look at where they started.0 -
When my doctor asked me what my goal weight was I said 145. (At the time I was 173) She looked at me and said you could safely get down to 125. I thought she was nuts. I am now around 128. I never in a million years thought I could do it.0

Some days yes, some days no.
When I'm having a good day or week I feel like it's finally in sight, I'm half way there. When I'm having a bad day/ week, I feel like maybe my body just won't do it, no matter how long I stay at it.
Overall I feel pretty confident that next year around this time I'll be there or at least within 5lb.0 -
To be honest at this point in time no.
Mainly because I want to get pregnant and this may happen before I reach my "Happy weight" but also because my weight has been yoyoing over the last 8 weeks, mentally I can't seem to get it right to continue going down.0 -
Yes. Been there any number of times. Heading there once again. May you find your reality matches the best scenario you can imagine.0

^Pretty much. Sure my ticker says 130lbs is my goal, but that is just based off of what I weighed about 5 years ago. Although I'm not sure what my stomach is going to look like after having 2 kids. My goal is to first get into the clothes that are in my closet. This however is what I looked like 5yrs ago(technically the first pic is 6yrs ago, but the rest are 5):
I figure, I'll probably look similar. Although I do wonder if I'll ever get back there, since I keep hitting obstacles. Oh well, nothing good ever comes with out hard work and a few obstacles to overcome.
I have a pair of jeans I bought 5yrs ago that have never been worn, tags on and everything. I would love to get into them again. My second goal, I want to lower my BF% enough to where my abs start to show.0 -
I never thought I could or would hit my goal.. and here I am.0
-
I was pretty close to goal weight last Summer, I had 4lbs to go, although I was happy where I was. Then I got pregnant and despite my best efforts gained weight. I reckon it'll take me until around Xmas to get back into my old jeans. I know I will get there again, but it is hard to imagine right now.0
-
I try not to think about it. I've realized that even when I'm at my goal weight I won't look how I want anyway so if I think about it too much I'd quit. Ultimately I think my goal (other than the # on the scale) is completely unattainable. But whatever - gonna keep going and hopefully at my goal weight I'll at least be better off than when I started in some ways.0
-
As of this morning I have 4 lbs left and heck yeah I am imagining that number on the scale!! Hopefully before the end of the month... But break it down into smaller. 5 lb goals0
