Does anyone log their job as daily exercise?

My job 5 days per week 7-8 hours per day is walking (compares to a waitress) and moving cases of shoes that weigh anywhere from 1-45 pounds. My fitbit tells me I walk 11,000-14,000 steps per day. If I log that it bumps my calories up to like 2700! So I don't log any activity. I try to keep my cal at about 1500 per day and have been maintaining my weight of 125-127. I am 51 and am 5 5 1/2. I truly think I would gain if I ate the calories it tells me I should be eating.

So, do you log exercise and eat the calories it adds?

But surely you set up MFP as very active at the start? If you then log it, you're effectively doubling up.

Work (including housework, yard work & childcare) is your activity level—not exercise.

Edited to add that MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/1307-fitbit-users

    Connect your accounts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/30

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Do not log step-based activity. Your Fitbit tracks it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) in Fitbit or MFP—never both. Follow your MFP calorie goal, eating back your Fitbit adjustments.

I log mine as Denise just burned minus 3000 calories sitting behind a desk all day

If your Fitbit is synced to MFP, you are not supposed to log any kind of walking activities as exercise.

Yes, but only my part time job.

On the weekends, I work as mall security. At least 8 hour shifts, sometimes 10 or 12 hours. I'll spend anywhere from 4-8 hours on my feet walking. Sometimes I'm on the outside on bike patrol, usually 2-4 hours of medium pace riding.

I wear a Jawbone Up to keep track of my steps, and Endomondo to track the kilometers on bike. Last Saturday I rode 50km (during an 8 hour shift, and still had 13,500 steps), and on Sunday I took 31,500 steps during my 6a-2p shift.

The only reason I keep track of my on duty activity is because Monday-Friday I have a desk job where I'm sitting the entire shift. I have my activity level at sedentary for this reason, despite my weekend work.

No problem. Also, sync your fitbit with MFP, its so much easier re your water, other exercise, walking etc! (I have a fitbit too)

Yes, I should have been more specific, sorry.

I do not manually enter any of my movement/exrercise into MFP, I let the UP app and Endomondo do it for me (the accounts are connected already).

I have enabled the negative calorie count, I wasn't sure what that was before but now that I read more I will use it for a bit.

    Thanks!
