Any new moms?

Hi! I am returning to MFP after having my first baby! She was born 11 days ago, and I decided to start tracking my foods and exercising again today. I can't exercise much, in fact nothing but walking until my six week check up, but I figure something is better than doing nothing at all. I really want to spend the next four weeks focusing on tracking calories again though. Anyone else a new mom or dad, that is looking to lose the baby weight?

Hello! Yes, I'm a relatively new mom. My twins are 10 months old and I just posted a introduce yourself post as well!

Sending you vibes that things go super well for you! Being a mom is hard, and the body after babies isn't the best, but, babies are such a blessing!

You're only 11 days pp, so don't be too hard on yourself! However, starting now is fabulous! Keep in mind that you've got a lot going on and you can do this!

Hi! I'm a second time mama with a 3 year old and a 5 month old. I do crossfit and eat Paleo and I am trying to lose the weight I never lost after my first baby! My goal is to get to 145, so that leaves me with 30 pounds to go. I have used MFP before, but that was long before when I went to a regular gym and ate a more standard American diet.

Are you nursing by any chance? I am struggling with how to account for the extra calories required while nursing. I've heard you burn up to 500 additional, but I'm not sure how. I'm thinking of adding that as a type of exercise for the day....thoughts?
  • I tried nursing, but had too low of milk supply. After meeting with my doctor and lactation consultants, they decided that I just didn't make much milk and I would need to supplement as well as breast feed. (They had me measure a day of pumping, and combined I only produced 1/2 of an ounce). Anyhow, the supplement for breast feeding gave my daughter really bad gas and stomach aches, so we had to switch to formula full time. It was heart breaking, and a part of me feels so guilty, but knowing she is getting food and feeling better is most important. I wish I was breastfeeding though, I was counting on that to lose weight!

Oh, I forgot to add, I was 256 when I went in the the hospital, and I am 235 today. I know I have probably lost all of the fluid I am going to lose, so now I need to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 206. Then, I have an extended goal to get to 180. I want to get fit again too. I might have been chubby, but I was pretty fit. I ran every day and lifted weights a lot. Saying that, obviously my diet has been the issue haha.

Hi, I'm a new mom on my first birth as well. (little over 2 months old). Don't push yourself too hard during those 6 weeks or you might end up back in the hospital. (I did ) Buuut once you are in the green, don't hold back. I started about two weeks ago and have lost about 10 lbs so far. The main thing is, you're so tired at first and aren't getting enough sleep. Sleep over exercise until you are sleeping through the night. Then get up an extra hour in the morning and do simple exercises. Eventually (I hope) your little one will be on a sleep schedule and you know that if he/she wake up normally around 7am, You should get up at 545 to exercise and shower. Itll also give you more energy throughout the day. I thought I would try doing it in the afternoon, but after work I was so tired I never had time. :) Congrats on the new little one!

Hi! I am a new mom. My girl is 12 weeks old. I did lose some weight right after I gave birth, but I have been overweight for the last 4 years and need to get back on track.

My daughter is amazing, and I want to be sure that :
    1. I can teach her to live a healthy lifestyle
    2. I live long enough to actually love on and help her grow
    3. I get my weight under control so that we can think about siblings in the future.

@BabyWeight710, your story is so close to mine. Low milk, supplementing, supply ran out - she got belly aches, gas etc. Poor girl even ended up in the ER because her little belly just filled up with air. So, in worrying about her, I forgot to keep taking care of myself.

Now, I am around 221, with a goal to get to 130 (eventually!). Right now I would be happy with pre-baby weight of 210. And, at 5'3" that is still a bit wobbly!

So, who wants to be friends and get going on healthy living?

    Hi Ladies!

I am a new mommy too! My baby girl is 3 months old. I told myself that once I finished maternity leave I would focus on losing the baby weight...so for the last 2 weeks I have and I've lost 6 pounds already! I am only 6 pounds away from my pre-baby weight now, but I'd like to lose another 10 on top of that.

I'd love to join forces with you all!

I started using MFP again after having my daughter. She's 11 months old now so I'm not technically a "new mom" but new enough. :) Any of you ladies are welcome to add me. I love adding to our circle of support!

Hey! I just wanted to say I think its awesome that youre focussing on your health so soon after bub has arrived. We all know how difficult it is to think of anything other than baby and sleep (or lck thereof anyway)

I'm a young(ish) mom/mum from Australia - Im 26 and have three young boys aged 7, 4 and 2 and am currently preparing to embark on a surrogate pregnancy for some very close friends of mine who cannot carry their own. Feel free to add me! Im looking for new mom friends :)
