Hi! I am just so discouraged and really need some supportive and motivation, I binged tonight!!! I am just so upset, I can't seem to shake it. How do you stop yourself from binging? I want to cry and really just fall apart emotionally. (

It happens. Take some slow deep breaths.Take it easy on yourself, put it in the past, and plan for tomorrow (preplan in the dairy).0

This. Life is flexible. Take this time to regroup and take a hard look at your priorities and how restrictive your diet is.
Just yesterday, I "did an oops". I was supposed to have sandwiches and fruit on a picnic with a friend (even preplaned it in the diary...which i *never* do), but then we both smelled the siren song of BBQ. What started as a 300-ish calorie lunch turned into a 700 calorie BBQ sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It happens. It put me a bit over calories at my (late) lunch time. I adjusted, prioritized, let it go and moved on.
Granted, I've had this pattern of "doing an oops" for a month and a half or so now, so weight loss has been WAY too slow (took a month and a half for two pounds to come off). I'm not beating myself up, making myself sick, having a panic attack, etc about it. I'm taking a hard look at the why and the how and moving on.
My best to ya, hon!0 -
I went out on Thursday night and although I ate really well throughout the day the evening just consisted of empty calories in drinks then on the next day I ate pretty badly because I was hung over and didn't even go running. However this happens, the best thing to do is just dust yourself back off and start again. This is exactly what I am doing right now, I also think it helps if you just 'binge' (if you have to) on special occasions, I used to have 2 'cheat' days a week but then stopped and I lost quite a bit of weight so now like I just said I save those kind of days for special occasions and I have found it really helps and is much better than having a regular 'binge'. Seriously just forget about it and power on!0

I have a tendency to binge. If it happens, I take a deep breath and I start fresh after the binge (not the day... because it will make me think ohhhhh I've already been "bad" I can have those cookies....)
Some times I get really bad on the binges... and one turns into a bad week.... so to break the habit I heard from a friend to do face masks... or teeth whitening strips...
I thought it was ridiculous....but it worked really well (face masks, not teeth whitening.... I was afraid of damage and really "Ross" like white teeth if was doing it often.)
So I put on a clay type face mask (3.99 at cvs- $$$ from spas for a tube... same theory) and let it sit to set for 20 ish minutes. You cant eat because and it cracks and makes a mess. It helps me calm down and by the time I apply, let it set, and wash it off, about 75% of the time I've controlled my need to binge. Bonus my skin looks awesome... it happens about once a week, but it gives me the time to stop, think and decide what to do.0 -
Are you eating enough the rest of the time? Binge eating in a lot of cases is the direct result of eating too little - it's a survival response that stopped our ancestors from starving to death. Unfortunately it's all too common for people to not realise this and to decide they lack willpower or they have a problem with emotional eating, when it's actually the direct result of eating too little and nothing more than that.
Sometimes, binge eating is caused by emotional issues - e.g. when people who are eating enough generally binge eat in response to stress.... but even someone who's in this situation does not want to be *also* eating too little so they end up battling this emotional issue and an inborn survival response at the same time. So, whatever the cause of the binge eating, step one is to ensure you really are eating enough the rest of the time. Don't go for fast weight loss, go for slow, steady and healthy weight loss.
It's impossible to give any specific advice as your diary and profile are closed - without knowing your current weight, goal weight and daily calorie goal, it's impossible to say if you're eating enough or not. Too big a calorie deficit (i.e. trying to lose weight too fast) is generally extremely counter-productive because it leads to binge eating and other problems that make it harder to stay on track - aiming for long term success rather than trying to lose weight as quickly as possible helps a lot in avoiding binge eating. Also, if your goal weight is too low for your height and frame size, binge eating and other undereating related issues will still kick in even if your calorie deficit is not that big, because you are underweight and your body will not just let you starve yourself without survival instincts kicking in.0 -
In the 2 months I have been dieting, I've binged no less than 4 times. It was glorious. I recovered and it had almost no effect on my overall weight loss. I still maintain 1.5-2.0 lbs per week. Realize how much you would truely need to binge to gain a significant amount of weight and you'll feel better. You didn't gain weight from the occasional binge, you gained weight from years of daily binging. It's ok. Continue to rock on.0
