Exactly this? In the diagram on your page, they look like pint glasses to me. Do you drink pints in the States? Sorry for my ignorance?

In the US we have pints, Imperial pints and dry pints

The US standard pint is 16 ounces
The Imperial pint (aka the UK pint) is 16.65 ounces
The dry pint is 18.6 ounces

Thanks for answering a question which has puzzled me for a long time.

As far as the ridiculous amounts of water I need to drink goes. I had shock wave treatment on a kidney stone. It causes tiny hairline fractures and then you have to drink FOUR litres of water a day to break up the stones and pass them over the course of a few weeks. Kidney stones are stoopid! :(

You're welcome. I love how some younger people have never heard of a dry pint (or quart or half pint) even as they are picking up their produce packed in one labelled "1 dry pint (551 ml)"
  • I believe the average is 8-8oz glasses a day-BUT it depends on factors such as your weight. With me, there was some sort of calculation behind it, and it came out to 12-8oz glasses a day. I know with myself, it was hard for me to drink water. Some days I have 6 some days I have the 12, it depends on the day. So what I do now, it always have a water bottle with straw filled with ice, and I notice I drink way more water with a straw! Sounds weird but it works for me! I now trained myself to only drink water, except for my 1 cup of coffee in the morning. I noticed since doing this, I feel I have way more energy, my urine is clear, maybe very faint yellow, and I don't have that tired sluggish feeling I was getting before.

Answer is 8x8 ounce glasses is the recommended but have read you can drink between 1/2-1oz per pound of body weight. I usually drink around 96oz.s here.

The glasses look like pint glasses but in the US a "glass" generally means a half-pint. (8 fl. oz).

clear pee is best or could be a bad sign too but usually best, if it's clear and doesn't stink it's usally good. just ask Bear Grylls.
Clear pee means you have no excess waste sitting in your system it's just clearing out water weight.

So if clear could be good or bad then I will go with medical recommendations of pale straw over Bear Grylls

The US standard is 8 - 8oz glasses per day. So I use a 16.9oz bottle that I refill through the day. I count each bottle as 2 glasses. If I have a coke or milk, that is logged with the meal and not counted on my fluid count.

We definitely drink pints in the States but they have nothing to with water
