So, I am on fairly friendly terms with my body overall, part of the weight loss prospect. But......ahem.......my marsupial pouch, that bulging lower belly fat, well not so much. Any tips or ideas on belly fat and or exercise out there?

I have that pouch to that I hate. Do you do any lower abdominal exercises? One that really works that area is lower abdominal crunching. Laying on your back lift your legs up, cross at heels and then push up with your hips, hold for a couple seconds then lower hips and repeat. If that is hard on your back bend you knees a little. You can also alternate dropping you knees side to side to work the lower oblique muscles. You can also do a crunch when you legs are up.0

Making a very conscious effort to straighten my posture and trying to keep my stomach in actually helped me firm up my abs and standing tall made more room available for my stomach to "stay in".
I'm only working on my diet as a sedentary person though so I won't speculate on exercising
Good luck!0 -

Can't target any part of the the body to lose fat with exercise. Exercise will help to strengthen and condition the muscle, but fat loss comes down to calorie deficit. Where you lose will mostly be based on genetics. Unfortunately in some cases, people can do EVERYTHING right and still not lose where they want.

I have also had 2 C sections, I agree with the calorie deficit idea so will continue doing that and see what comes when I hit my goal, which could be added to if I don't see the loss. Thanks for all of your responses. Core exercises will at least support the area.0

Fantastic read, thanks!0 -
I might suggest Blogilates (do an internet search for lots of free workouts) and also TRX suspension training...the core work exercises such as a plank and crunches. I am a 58 year old female. I still have belly fat, but it is less since I've been doing these types of things.0

I've had four kids, including a set of twins so I definitely have that mama pouch. I find that doing yoga core exercises makes me stand differently, hold in my belly more and minimizes the look of the pouch. When I skip them for a few days, the pouch is more pronounced.0
