I'm Overweight!!

Today marks one year of using my fitness pal, and I cannot believe how far I have come. I had my fair share of struggles along the way, battling back the tears when I didn't lose, and my weight loss stalling for months when I hurt my knee, but I didn't give up. I refused to let myself slip into my old ways of emotional eating.
For the months that my weight never changed I changed my attitude. I said ok I'm not losing, but I am not gaining either so I must be doing something right. So I just kept up with what I was doing and kept myself super motivated and suddenly the weight started coming off again!
I have lost 55 pounds, gone down two pants sizes, down four shirts sizes, and went from class 2 obese to overweight. I cannot remember being in the size pants I am now and am 10 pounds away from my high school weight ten years ago! I have never felt better and cannot imagine my life the way it was. The most important thing I have gained so far on my journey is my confidence and self esteem, I now know I can do anything!
I still have always to go but I know I can do this!

Thank you for sharing your success. I'm basically just getting started on a journey to lose about 80 pounds and I have been really struggling with emotional eating now that I am not using food to soothe myself. It is a great motivator to read about your success. Keep up the good work!!0

Awesome job! Thanks for posting. I think we often focus on the negative and not the positive - like losing 55 lbs and not gaining it back!0

Wonderful work!! You should be so proud of yourself and your accomplishments. I think the most difficult thing is to keep on keepin' on when you're at a standstill. And you did it!! Congrats!0

I don't really have many secrets, I really just watched how much I ate. Although I made sure not to cut anything out of my diet. I knew if I tried to give up my dessert I would not be able to do it and would rebound. So I drastically cut down portion sizes and how many times I had dessert and it worked. Also I worked out hard in the beginning when I wasn't working. For six months I went to the gym 2 hours a day and the pounds melted off.
When I returned to work full time in December 2013 the weight loss slowed down a lot but I kept it up, then in February I hurt my knee at work and was not able to work out at all really. I stopped losing weight and wanted to give up but didn't I kept on pushing and suddenly the weight started coming off again...I take every pound lost and every inch off as a victory and the fact that I feel so much better!
At first I thought I had to starve myself and lose 2 pounds a week and of course in the start I did because I was so overweight, but as time went on I realized it wasn't working, so I upped my calories to lose a pound a week and it worked I'm even averaging almost a pound and a half a week...so it's all trial and error...and it's not about how fast you lose it, but how you feel and how long you keep it off
Also I do not have loose skin really I lucked out there, my plan has been focus on cardio now to lose weight, then when I maintain I will tone up0 -
Congratulations!!! I know exactly how you feel. I know how hard it is to lose weight, and how depressing it is when you don't. I also know how wonderful you feel when you reach a landmark. Today for the first time the center for disease control's obesity calculator says i'm overweight and not obese!
Keep it up and stay positive!0
