I haven't really gotten any yet. But I know that when you lose weight people say weird things to you sometimes. So that lead me to wondering, what's the Weirdest comment you've gotten?

My best friend makes the oddest comments. Some are great and others are weird.

She has mentioned on several occasions that she wouldn't have thought my shoulders were 'that small' and that I am "overall narrow". She says that my fingers look like a child's (I've always had small hands and thin fingers even at my largest)...creepy yet funny to hear, especially since I know she is brutally honest and means no ill.

She also told me that I look a lot taller and she calls my legs "your crazy model legs" which I always take as a huge compliment to be honest, I'm tallish at 5'8" and wearing cigarette pants and ankle boots my goal is for my legs to look long & lean and that's when she always says it. Woo hoo!

I lost about 40 pounds in high school. I think the funniest comments I got were from my friends who were STILL skinnier than me, saying "oh my god you are getting too thin!" Like, really?? Back off b*tches!

My personal favorite, "I like that your boobs have shrunk because they were giving my boobs a complex..." She was kidding, obviously, but I found it hilarious

I haven't really had any comments from people I see on a daily/weekly basis. I also cut my bangs and at church one guy kept looking at me and than asked if I had done something different to my hair, but even when I confirmed that I did, he kept saying, "Yeah, your face really changed with that haircut." He looked like he wanted to ask if I had lost weight, but might have been afraid of offending me by asking. My husband was there, and neither of us mentioned it, but I swear, he looked like he wanted to ask.

I've gotten asked if I was doing drugs by my aunt...
    that was awkward.

those moments are awkward for sure. I have had a couple people ask me "losing the right/wrong way?" and making kind of weird remarks that alluded to drugs...skeeved me out so much. I've also had a tornado destroy my house and a divorce (and subsequent remarriage) since I started losing weight so occasionally old coworkers or acquaintances will say I look great to my face and then ask mutual contacts if the tornado and/or divorce was hard on me to cause me to lose so much weight. Argh!

I've lost 130 lb since my heaviest and I have not had one single person ask me if I had weight loss surgery...a lot of friends/MFP friends who have lost 80-100+ get that question a lot so I am not sure why I haven't. I'd feel weird about that too.
  • Last year I was in Chicago and decided to get my passport renewed while I was there.. as per the norm I couldn't get past the metal detector without setting it off. The resulting pat down led to the HLS guard popping out with the following..

"Damn man, what's your leg routine, you got legs like a linebacker!"

    ....

I think that moment may stick with me for the rest of my life, creepy homeland security people.

my father in law (yes very awkward) told me "sheesh your butt's looking a lot better these days!"

"You're losing weight in weird places. Have your hands always been that thin?"

...yes. yes they have. I know I'm weirdly proportioned and that I carry my weight almost entirely on my hips, stomach and face, I really don't need this explained for me??

Normally after a noticeable weight loss, the comments I get from girlfriends are almost always about them being happy my boobs aren't THAT much bigger than theirs anymore, and lots of times people will start to notice (once my upper body slims a little- I'm very top heavy, muffin, stomach, chest) "Your legs are actually naturally small, aren't they?" Lol, how am I supposed to take that? Yes, thanks? Uhh, could you not see them before? Hahaha. I know the intent is to show they notice, but sometimes people can be a little mouth-vomitty now and then.

I think the worst one I got was a vicious rumor that spread. I had to switch high schools my senior year....I happened to also lose weight during that summer transition although I remained in the neighboring town. I ran into a friend at the mall, and she said "Oh my God! You're so thin! Are you ok?! I heard you were in the hospital. I was wondering why we haven't seen you at school!" Baffled, I asked what she meant. "So and so" had spread a rumor that I got pulled from school to go to a hospital for anorexia recovery. Wow, thanks ya jealous f$#!. TO add insult to injury, the REAL reason I switched high schools senior year was because my parents divorced after 20+ years of marriage and my dad took off.

My hands are super small as well. When we got my engagement ring I was about 25ish pounds from my heaviest of 271. And my engagement ring is a 5 3/4. Its starting to get a bit lose now after 44 pounds lost. So I'm wondering how small ill end up going. My mom who's only 145 at 6ft tall wears a bigger size ring then I do now. Her wedding bands are 6s and she can't wear them anymore. They are around her neck.

I had someone tell me to stop losing weight because she liked me better looking "Large and in charge" (I am in an administrative position in my school) and she didn't want me to become weak and tiny looking. I weighed around 200 pounds and am 5'6' so I was nowhere near tiny.

Yeah, after losing about 20 pounds I had someone ask me about whether my makeup was different or something.... stares carefully at my face... No, makeup is the same old routine. :)

I feel you two! I'm 5'8" and was around 270 for almost my entire adult life, even got up to 307 and always wore a 5.5 ring. With age and a little bit of weight loss, I got engaged May 2013 at about 245 lb and my ring is size 5. It's enormous on me now. I probably wear a 4-something and I am still 177 lb.

Anyone have weirdly small feet, too? I have gone from a 7.5-8 to 6.5-7 since losing weight. Even at 307 lb I had average width size 8's.

I'm 5 ft 3. So maybe this is how small my hands are suppose to be? Lol I have no clue. But its always been weird to me. Shoe wize I've always had a size 8 womans. Unless they are dress shoes. Then I need 9s and sometimes 10s. My wrist are pretty small too. Like right now I'm 226 and I have a fitbit flex. I'm using the small band and its on the second/third holes in, with plenty of room to go.

I've been told I look taller (I'm 5'9). I had no idea that weight loss had any affect on height?

I also get told a lot to quit losing weight because I'm too skinny (which is BS).

And I've been told that my ears look huge now that I lost weight which was not something that made me feel good!

I had an acquaintance quasi-hit on me, after insinuating that I'd lost so much weight so that I could find someone to cheat on my husband with. :explode: Not very flattering. To ANY of the folks involved. Jerk.

My eyes look bigger.... is that possible? ! They're gigantic to begin with
  • Someone recently said me getting mono really helped. The funny thing was I was on maintenance for the 3 months I was sick (didn't gain, didn't lose). I guess it was just easier for her to believe I couldn't lose on my own :noway:

Ok, I've only been on the program of my new way of eating for a month, well actually since March, but the loss really picked up the pace this month with working with MFP.

All I get from people who know me is, "What are you doing differently with your face?" "Is it new glasses?" I'm down from a high of 246 in March to 228 today. Really people are perceiving what they interpret as a cosmetic make up change or new glasses.

One friend, (love her for this) did say, "Wow, you look great! What ever you are doing keep doing it. It's working!"

I got an "I'd tap that" comment from a lady who was just trying to congratulate me on my weight loss but it was kind of weird to hear even if it did make me smile.

    I've gotten a few.

"You're almost just bones". Huh? Maybe if I'm just hip bones. As I have very wide hips lol. I got this when I reached a healthy weight again, too, mind you.

"Oh my god! You've got a butt!" I don't. I mean, certain pants make me *look* like I do. When I was bigger, I was just too self conscience to ever wear skinny jeans.

I've heard that my eyes look bigger, too. And I look like a different person. Things like that.

    that was awkward.

To this day, people like to ask if I was 'on' anything. :grumble:
