Low Carb recovery drink?

I am looking for some suggestions for recovery drinks. My schedule consists of working out anywhere from 8:30pm to 9:30pm and is usually 30 to 45 minutes long. I take a shower and go to bed afterwards but I am looking for suggestions on a good recovery drink. I know that lots of people suggest chocolate milk and I will occasionally drink unsweetened almond and walden farms no calorie chocolate syrup. I am looking for something a little more. I would love to hear what some other low carb options. I know that carbs are good after working out I am just on Atkins right now so sticking with the plan. Thanks in advance :)

I'm curious as why you need a recovery drink if you're going right to bed?

I have ON 100% casein before bed. Not for recovery or anything but as it's really nice made as 'hot chocolate' and helps me hit my protein goal. I've had it a couple of times (when I'm out of calories) with water instead of milk and it was still quite nice which would cut out the carbs, I think.

The whole point of drinking chocolate milk is that it contains protein, sugar, and fat and specifically has been shown to promote recovery in some studies. Almond milk and Walden farm chocolate syrup does not by any means equate to "chocolate milk" even if it might taste similar.

You could drink a protein shake, or try some BCAAs. I like Xtend brand. I take the BCAAs during my workout rather than after but I feel they promote recovery.

I like Shamrock Farms Rockin Re-fuel

190 calories and 30 grams of protein. It's pretty tasty. But it' like $2+ a small bottle.

    Total Carbs 12 g
    Dietary Fiber 3 g
    Sugars 6 g
    Protein 30 g
    Cholesterol 30 mg
    Vitamin A 20%
    Calcium 70%
    Vitamin C 0%
    Iron 8%

12 grams isn't too bad, considering 3g is dietary fiber

I'm not sure what you consider high carbs, it's lower than chocolate milk though

What are you doing that you "need" a recovery?

If you're getting leg cramps, you might want to look into making sure you're supplementing right and electrolytes are balanced. Quinine is great for immediately resolving cramps. Bananas are a traditional foodstuff for that.

I am doing p90x3. I have even went to the doctor they have been so bad, they did bloodwork and suggested I take potassium which I do. Still after certain workouts the leg cramps keep me up.

You could drink some protein powder mixed with water or almond milk.

I take 2 potassium pills a day. If I don't, I get terrible leg cramps. I eat food with potassium but it isn't enough.
