Weight soaring after cheat day

Hi All,

Why after a cheat day does my weight sky rocket? I know its not permanent but is it water weight or something else?

For example Monday I had hot dog and sweet potato fries for lunch, ice cream, brazilian bbq for dinner and a cake (lots of extra calories - it was my lads birthday so we went out for the day).

Now the day before I was 12 stone 11lbs and the next day 13st 4lbs.

Thats a 7lbs shift.....today it had gone down to 13st 2 lbs but still a big gain.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Paul

Do you normally exercise? Did you not exercise on your cheat day? If yes to both these then it could be the replenishment of your glycogen stores.

Could also be due to high sodium content in your cheat day foods - that will cause your body to retain water.

water water water! stay off the scales for a few days and get back to your deficit and you'll be fine!

On my cheat day I did 40 mins fasted cardio in the morning then had protein pancakes 90 mins after that.

It was the afternoon and dinner that was well abnormal (well for me).

    Read these.

Basically it's water retention from eating higher carbs and sodium than usual.

That plus on a cheat day you might actually eat a few more pounds of food than you do on average. Well at least I do.

Food weight (more food in your stomach and intestines than normal)
Water weight (muscle repair, sodium, or just extra to drink)
Restock of various stores (glycogen, fat cells)
