my long distance bf is coming over for few days and I know I won't be able to stick to calorie counting. However I will make sure I go for a run every morning as usual for an hour.we love going out to eat and I just want to enjoy myself and not stress about weighing food.
I am just worried that I will end up eating above my maintanance calories and gain some of the weight I lost.I lost 12 lbs since I started mfp and I will hate to regain them or half of it since it was hard work taking them off.it took while .I know you have to eat 3500 calories to gain one fat so if over eat, will I gain weight in days? I have heard of some people gaining 20 pounds in 2 months which is scary:noway:

You would have to eat 3500 calories over your TDEE to gain a pound of fat so it is possible you could gain weight, but lets be clear the average person has a tdee in the 2000+ range so to gain a pound of fat even in a day you would have to consume 5500 calories.0

If you have been at a deficit for a period of time, then eat over maintenance for a few days, more than likely your weight will spike. However, the very large majority of that spike will be water weight and will go away within a few days of getting back on track. The fat gain will be minimal, as cingle87 explained, unless you just go bat **** crazy.
so that is the physical part of this, but what about the mental aspect? You are basically planning to change your habits just because your BF comes to town. I mean, a celebration dinner may be in order, but it sounds as if you are just planning to disregard your new lifestyle while he is with you. What happens if things get serious and you all move to the same city or move in together? Are you going to start eating over maintenance regularly and "gain 20 lbs in 2 months"? Gaining that my FAT (not water) takes a total disreguard for watching your intake vs TDEE for a period of time.
If I were you I would really be thinking about why you feel the need to just quit altogether in your BF's presence.0 -
Unless you and your boyfriend hold some sort of competitive eating contest it seems unlikely that you are going to gain a significant amount of fat over the course of a weekend. I think you are just fine relaxing and enjoying and then coming back to your routinue after a pleasent weekend.
If you DO hold a competitave eating contest then the trick is not to chew, just bite and swallow.0
