More time reading online while bored at work and i came across a few articles on the health benefits of roller skating as a form of cardio ..
i used to roller-skate 2-3times a week as a kid and i loved it..who'd have thought that an hours skating uses as much as an hours jogging/walking but exercises far more muscles in the process ..
Has / Does anyone use it in their workouts or for fun ?
Im 47 now but have access to an huge empty warehouse at work .. am thinking maybe i should invest in a pair of roller skates n have some fun and liven up my workouts .. lol

I am 47 & have been skating since January. I LOVE it. I go 2-3 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time. (just a little obsessed lol). But I look & feel better than I ever have. My bottom half looks great. :)

My sister roller blades to and from work sometimes. I think she was averaging about 20 miles a week for a while, and her legs were AWESOME. All I know is that I lift weights, bike, do tae kwon do, and I don't think I'm weak by any means, but the last time I tried to keep up with her I almost died, seriously. It is so hard, and obviously amazing for you, especially if it is something that will keep you interested.

Yes! If you're skating outside, you're definitely going to get a good workout. If you're indoors on a rink surface or warehouse surface, it just depends how much effort you're putting into the skating. I'm sure the skating was great for my lower half, but I couldn't tell for all the beer I was drinking. :drinker:

If you're actually rollerskating and purchase your own, make sure you have the appropriate wheels, especially if you're skating outside.
