Eating the same thing everyday

I would like to know your opinion on eating the same thing (almost) everyday.

I do (eat the same thing..) and I'm not sure if its hurting my results. During the week I live a busy life: Wake up, commute 45 minutes, work til 5:30 or 6, gym from 6-7:30pm, commute back 45 minutes. By the time I get home, I'm beat. The last thing I want to do is cook a whole meal from scratch, so I make thing easy by making eggs, or cooking a bunch of meat on sundays and eating that throughout the week. I do the same for my breakfast and lunch at work. It's just easier if I prep it all once a week and I don't have think about it.

What do you think about it? Do you do it?

I do the same. Meal prep on the weekend and eat pretty much the same thing each day (give or take a few different veggie options). It works for me and is super convenient, leaving no room for excuses. I'm a creature of habit too so I RARELY get sick of the same meals. I count macros but also carefully watch my micronutrients. If you take a quality multivitamin and eat good whole nutrient dense food, then I think it's totally fine. Failure to plan is, well, ya know.

It doesn't really matter, as long as you can handle it. I find, for me, it's better to eat a variety of foods, because if I get bored with what I'm eating, I'm more like to eventually go off the rails and eat a bunch of stuff I shouldn't.

But if it works for you, there's nothing wrong with it. The only thing necessary for weight loss is to eat fewer calories than you burn.

I eat the same things for breakfast and lunch just about every day, but mix it up with dinner. It makes calorie counting easier and is good self-discipline.

That said, once every couple of weeks or so I will have a different lunch (like a sandwich or wrap) because I do get tired of salads every day.

Just make sure if you're eating the same thing every day, that you're eating something that's been optimized to make sure that you're getting all the nutrients etc you need.

Realistically, if you eat the same thing every day and are constantly low on protein, Vit C, iron, etc long-term that will be an issue.

I'd switch it up weekly if you could, but I think that's just more that I know I would get bored eating with very little variation from day to day.

I eat the same thing every day, every week, and I'll change it up every few weeks. It works so I don't mind.

Find what works for you and stick to it :) that's what I learned after a LONG time. The same thing as you works for me, tbh I just don't want to spend every night cooking, I'd rather do my hobbies after work! and that makes me happier, as I get a chance to unwind and enjoy the evening, which is extremely important. I used to try do everything perfectly, which included getting loads of variety, and not only was it a huge cost cooking for one, different stuff every night, but I was so exhausted that I would end up stress eating to try get some energy back. Which, needless to say, just meant I couldn't get a good night's sleep. So I just do what works for me :) last night I made turkey burgers and that gives me lunch (in a salad) and dinner (with veggies) for 2 days, it's awesome!

I eat the same thing every day and have been for about the last three years. I'm okay with it! On weekends we will change things up a bit, but if the week is busy (which it is for most people), like you said, the last thing we want to do is cook. I'm not sick of the meals we have (yet) so until we are, we're sticking with 'em!

During my calorie deficit part .. I did. It made success easy ... and easy logging.

But now, not so much as I don't log anymore. My goals have changed and losing fat is not one of them.

If it works for you .. then nothing wrong with doing it.

Yep, me too. Been eating the same meals and snacks for over 2 years now. Moreover, I still love every bite.

I do it. I have a core set of recipes that I prep on Sunday and mix it up so I don't get bored.

My dinners vary every 1-2 nights (we do leftovers twice a week to save money), but pretty much everything else I eat stays the same all week. I have a different lunch every week, but my breakfasts have been the same for months. My weekend meals are always different because we eat out quite a bit. It's only me and my husband living in my house and he isn't going near half the stuff I eat, so I need to use up everything I buy during grocery shopping so nothing goes bad. Plus, it makes meal prep way easier when you'll be eating the same stuff all week.

I haven't had an issue with eating the same thing pretty much every day. If I get sick of something, I switch it up. I am trying a few new things next week, for instance, just because I'm in the mood for a change. As long as eating the same thing over and over isn't causing you to overeat other foods, I don't see a problem with it.

My base foods that I plan to eat throughout the week I do on the weekend (meats, beans, soups, hardboiled eggs, baked sweet potatoes, steel cut oatmeal, roasted veggies, etc.) and I just mix and match them with whatever veggie or other food I want to eat. I never eat the exact same thing every day. I get bored with that really quick. We usually go out to eat once or twice a week, and that also adds a little more variety.

There's no reason why it should hurt your weight loss results; however, depending on the items you eat regularly, it's possible that you could be missing certain vitamins and minerals from the lack of variety.

I ate the same thing every day for a long time. I can't see why it would hurt as long as there is enough variety in that daily routine that you are getting all your nutrients.

I'm on maintenance but even when I was eating fewer calories I ate very small quantities of a large variety of foods.

As long as your consistent meals are nutritionally balanced, it shouldn't hurt you. I think we all have foods we fall back on. My first reaction was, "isn't it boring to eat that way?" as we like to mix it up quite a bit around here, but we definitely have our fail-safe recipes and things that can be made by the vat and eaten for lunch all week long.

I totally get it. I ate the exact same breakfast everyday for about 10 years. It was habit and easy and kept me full until lunch!! You have to do what will work for you!

We're weekend cooks at our house. We grill a bunch of chicken, roast a turkey breast, roast a couple cookie sheets worth of vegetables, etc on Saturday and eat on those items all week long for lunch and dinner and always have carrots, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, nuts and a couple different fruits (usually apples and grapes but sometimes other fruits) to snack on. We also cook a weekend meal - this week we're having stuffed bell peppers.

We eat the same thing all the time unless we have leftovers from our weekend meal, then that ends up in the rotation along with the other things we always have cooked and on hand.
