    good job!!

best 5k time for me to date is 29 minutes and 59.8 seconds. yes literally a second to spare, but I broke the under 30 minute mark, lol. This was not an actual 5k race, just running with my garmin in my neighborhood. Im hoping an actual 5k will give me better time with the extra support and motivation that comes with running in these types of runs.

Ditto! But I was in an all-out sprint for the last 30 seconds so I could get under 30 minutes!

45 minutes and I lapped everyone on the couch.
  • That is amazing. For 5 weeks of work, that is really good. Keep it up!

My PB was at the Sea World Reindeer Run last year @ 20:10

    I usually average between 22 and 24

My best is 25:11. I've improved by about a minute in the past year, but I remember being over 30 minutes a few years ago.

My worst 5k time in a race was 63 minutes, due to amazing shin splints. It truly was an act of god.

My best so far is 34 minutes.

My personal best for a 5k is 23:20 that I hit a few months ago. Considering I was over 400 pounds 2.5 years ago, I guess that's pretty good. I'm now at around 24 minutes now since I have been doing a slow bulk adding more upper body mass. I prefer power walking over running. I also worry about injury with running and long-term problems with my hips and knees.

My first 5k was in 29:49:22 (321st out of 461 runners) and was slower than my personal best, which is currently 27:52:52.

29 minutes is my best time. I'm not much of a runner, but every now and then I do 5k just to see if I can. I 'm ususally 30-35 minutes.

I'm running one on Sunday, so will post then...and use the info here as a guideline. I am so not fast, and during the runs at home am doing about 10:45 pace, but only up to 3 miles, so that would be 32:15. We'll see if being in a "race" environment pushes me to go faster!

yeah! for "race" environment. it's amazing what a herd mentality will do. usually in a race you end up doing more than a 5K because race distance is usually measured by shortest distance on the inside lanes. if its a family run with no coral starting, you might end up running 3.3-3.5 miles with all the weaving around you do in the first mile.

    training my best is 28:43
    race, PR is 25:31

My PB in a race was 28:41 in March of this year. Won 1st place in my age group (40-44). Pretty good considering I had a back injury and had run 3 miles the night before. I even walked about 30 seconds of it because I went out too fast at the start.

My normal is 30-33 minutes for training. I took up running in Jan of 2013, and my first official 5k was around 35 minutes, so this is all good improvement for me.

Hehe my PR is 16:10, but that was over a decade ago! Now I'm thrilled to go under 21 minutes in a 5k.

Yes you did and you rock!

My first was 51:02 and I was barely under 300# but I got off my fat *kitten* and did it. More of a waddle than a run or walk but I was moving.

My goals were 1) don't die 2) beat the sweeper 3) finish under 60 minutes and enjoy a nice cold beer at the finish line. I beat all the DNS, DNFs and couch sitters

This year my goal is to knock at least 10 minutes off that time and of course not die so I can enjoy another nice cold beer at the finish. Yes, I will run for cold beer :drinker:

    Slainte!

The last 5K I did was back in December. I ran it in 29:20. I started running the previous January (after insisting my whole life that I hated running) and did my first 5K in May in 36:05. My next goal is to get under 28; after that, we'll see.

We did a 5K yesterday =- 55:10 - 2 massive hills (492 ft elevation)... I'm 53, 246 lbs, and asthmatic... so I'm very happy with my time - this is a personal best - last time was 55:46 for this same course. that was yesterday, today I walked 4 miles in 1 hr and 14 mins. :-) I'm tired.

I did Parkrun 5k yesterday in 36 mins. It was the first time in ages that I had completed a run without any walking breaks so I was delighted. I was really pleased to come second in my age category - until I realised there were only three ladies in that category- lets just gloss over that bit;)

Congrats! Glad the C25K has worked well for you!

My current 5k PR (excluding high school XC times bc that was ages ago) is 25:37, which I did on a regular easy run a few days before an 8k race this July.
