How "Overweight" Am I?

Hello everyone,
So long story short, I've always been on the heavier side. My family and friends have told me that I am big boned and I believed it for a while, but I recently calculated my BMI online and apparently I am in the "overweight" category. I guess this is a wake up call for me because more than ever, I am motivated to get out of the house and become active. My first question is: where do I start? My mile time is currently a little under 10 minutes (this is something I know that I need to work on), but I can barely run the mile with out feeling lightheaded and wheezing. My second question (and most important question) is: how overweight am I? By this I mean, how much weight do I need to lose before I am a healthy weight? In your opinion, am I fat? Honestly, your opinion is highly valued and I will not take offense whatsoever. I really appreciate your time!!:)

Bonus question!!!
I play lacrosse, any tips for becoming a better lacrosse player while at the same time getting fit?
Thanks!!
Sorry, I forgot to add that I am 5'5 and 150 pounds

You are NOT fat. But when you calculate your BMI on MFP, it should tell you your healthy weight range for your age and height0

I cannot answer your question without knowing what your height is/weight is.0

The NHS BMI calculator will let you easily work out your ideal BMI and weight range. Do remember that it is a range, we are all different builds, so be realistic in any target you set. Good luck. Dx

you know, you can get all this info if you google it… and give a bit of leeway because it's not cut and dry. I'm overweight but no one can tell… my legs are muscular and so are my arms… my middle is soft but I'm working on that…0

You do not look overweight. Can you tighten up the waist by losing 5 pounds? Sure. You are within 4 weeks of your goal.0
