Supplements

Does anyone use supplements (vitamins, herbals)?

I just started taking Shaklee Metabolic Boost...described as,

Burn calories naturally Boost your body's metabolism naturally. Clinically proven EGCG from green tea helps burn more calories. Chromium, vanadium, and banaba leaf extract help you retain normal blood sugar levels, which in turn help keep your energy up and your metabolism going strong.

In addition to the metabolic boost, I'm taking phentermine (under doctor supervision of course!).

TIA!
Jancie

Everyone here really wishes you success in the long term, however very few people here are going to tell you taking phentermine and expensive shakes is a good idea for long-term success. Most everyone here would advocate tracking calories and hitting your macros every day.

Follow your doctor's orders and whatever diet they gave you.

I am by no means a professional on weight loss, or I wouldn't be here BUT...

I personally would say most people should take a daily multi-vitamin, as it is well proven that in a modern western diet, we are deficient. All of our cells need certain vitamins in order to function, so in order to get the best out of anything whether it be overcoming an illness, losing weight etc I recommend getting our bodies the vitamins it needs in order to function properly.

It's common sense really I suppose. You can get daily vitamins pretty cheaply as well. Obviously it is better to get your vitamins from food alone, but for some, especially low income families, this can be extremely hard.

As far as the other supplements, I don't know. All I know is that companies will say whatever they want us to hear in order to buy it.

Good luck with the weight loss :D

weight loss is like a long straight highway...there are no shortcuts. However, the better your diet and exercise program, the faster you can drive...

Certain supplements help me out a lot! Like preworkouts, they help get my *kitten* in gear after a long hard day of flying my desk...without any supplements i would probably still be on the right track but i'd be a bit farther behind than i am now.

If you are under a doctor's supervision then why are you side-stepping your weight loss plan and taking Shaklee Metabolic Boost? Does your doctor know you are taking that stuff? I hope you are working with a qualified dietitian to help you create a safe and sustainable weight loss plan.
