Plastic Surgery: Vanity or Sanity?

They say that “beauty comes from within.”
It is laughable to think that having larger breasts or lips can be classified as the use of ‘freedom of expression’. How low has our society gone if we think the most valuable use of our right to freedom of expression is the right to have cosmetic surgery and dye our hair? The availability of cosmetic surgery and the making it more acceptable only lets the idea infiltrate society that it is ok to want physical perfection, and that appearance is important. Surely we would want our young to grow up with higher hopes and aspirations.

btw-- I am a whatever floats your boat- its your body kinda person-- yes am planning to get breast augmentation after I lose all of the weight I plan on losing to bring my normal C's back up to D's or DD's - whichever will compliment my body the best for me0 -
Isn't exercising and taking care of your body then kind of the same thing?
I am planning to get plastic surgery in the fall. I had 4 children in 4 years, and lost a lot of weight. As a result, my breasts are lower than where they should be and 'empty" looking. This is something I can't do anything about on my own. But, there are people who can fix it for me. Why should I have to go through the rest of my life hating something on my body I can't personally fix?0 -
I got my bewbs cut off. Mostly for health reasons, partly for vanity.
Vanity would be being able to buy cuter tops and not having black eyes due to jumping.0 -
Well you've just had lots of thoughts the last few days, haven't you?0

I am definitely for plastic surgery. If I had the money I'd go to the plastic surgery clinic tomorrow and get my boobs done and my face completely changed :laugh:0

I see nothing wrong with someone else getting anything done. If it makes you feel better about yourself, then why not? It's not my business what someone else chooses to do with their body. However, that being said, I personally would not get anything done.0

Sounds like someone's been reading Hunger Games0

I genuinely see no wrong in getting plastic surgery. It's just like getting a tattoo or cutting your hair, you're making changes to your appearance in order to make you feel good about yourself.0

I think it depends on what the surgery is for...and even if it's for vanity, if it makes you comfortable in your own skin is that actually vain?
I'd love to get the extra skin on my arms/stomach area removed that came from being a chubby teen who lost weight too quick. Is that vain? It's fine if you think it is but in my book it's not.
Saying that, I have a noticeable deformity on one of my limbs (for personal reasons I don't feel like getting into it on a website) and I have no want to change it, I was born this way and I don't care.0 -
Freedom... it's a helluva drug.0

If you do it right, all it says about you is A) You care about how you look and
You can afford it
