Yeah, time to step outside of the box. I don't usually frequent forums too much (much more of a lone wolf myself) but I was playing around on my computer and I decided to throw some of my positive vibes out there for everyone.
I've been religiously leading an active and healthy lifestyle since my exit from the Marine Corps a few years ago. I used to smoke cigarettes, moved over to a vaporizer (we'll see what the research brings back on those; for the time being it's one of my vices, but I'm okay with it) and now I'm just trying to find a delicate balance between doing the right amount of cardio, lifting weights, eating plenty of protein, and trying to find the weight/appearance I'm most satisfied with.
The weather down here in Southern California is prime running weather (though, I don't discriminate between seasons; I'll hit the roads whether it's raining or blazing hot, all hazards set aside) and I like to hit the gym five days a week. It's what works for me and my job permits me the time to be able to do what I enjoy. I used to lead myself by the nose, trying to find what works for me, overloading myself with all the "information" I've read on articles on the internet. With my driven personality, I threw most of that stuff to the wayside and found out what works for me.
I'm happy with what I've gained from lifting weights (started it back up in December of 2013) and running has always been a driven passion of mine. I know I can get a little obsessive with this fitnesspal app on my phone, but it appeals to my personality. I use it more so to keep track of my protein intake and monitor my caloric intake for the day. It works.
Well, I guess that's about it for now. Hi everyone

Hey there, Mr. SoCal! Congrats on quitting smoking. That's a big achievement right there in itself. I'm loving this app, too, as it appeals to my OCD nature, so I laughed when I read that.0

Haha, glad I could give you a good-hearted chuckle. -- It's nutty sometimes, I'll be eating something and I'll be dividing and adding portion numbers in my head. Trying to "decimalize" (I know it's not a word, but for lack of a better one at the moment) everything I eat so I can get the right number into the calculator. Though, I must admit when I have home-cooked meals, I usually forego everything and just leave it alone; but if anything comes in a bag with a nutrition facts label on it, you can best believe I'm going to be recording it.
Unless of course it's chewing gum or something--now that would be obnoxious.0 -
Same here, I'm always adding up the number of ounces and grams or what not to fit the number in the calculator. I also kinda keep to myself but this website is filled with amazing people. Hope you like it

Added. Thanks -- Keep up the good work Mariam, you'll get the dream body you want if you keep at it.0
