Water Consumption!!

Okay so I've started drinking more water (because I was drinking like 2 cups a day...whoops!) and I've managed to work myself into 8-10 cups a day approximately. It's easy because I work a desk job so as long as I keep it beside me I take a drink without really even having to think about it. It's been all fine and dandy and I've felt a bit better because of it, but the only thing I find (sorry if this is too much info) is that I have to pee ALL THE TIME. Like I'm a little worried it's just going right through me entirely and not getting absorbed at all!! I've read that putting a bit of lemon into your water will help your body absorb the water better, should I start doing this? Is there such thing as too much peeing or drinking too much water?

I've never heard of the lemon helping with anything other than making water taste better for those who can't drink it plain. Your digestive system can only hold and process so much...at some point what goes in has to come out, and ideally you don't want to hold on to more than your body needs to stay hydrated anyway. By the end of the day I'm usually on a pretty consistent "drink a cup/let go of a cup" schedule.
  • So it's totally normal for me to be say drinking a cup in an hour and then having to pee every hour

It is totally normal and it will stop once your body gets used to the amount of water your drinking. The first few days are the worst, then it gets less frequent! Look up aaalll the benefits of drinking lots of water, it's definitely something you want to keep doing! :)

I think you've found the main downside to drinking a fair bit of water - you shouldn't be causing any other issues.

However, there isn't a particular upside - despite what MFP might suggest, it's unlikely you need to drink that much sitting at a desk.
The stuff about 'drink x glasses a day' was a mis-interpretation of some research many, many years ago as far as I know.
The research concluded the fluid needed, which included fluid in food and so on - someone then took that figure and made out you had to drink that in plain water.

A good guide, especially when sedentary is - "if you're thirsty, have a drink".
