First off let me start by saying I am NOT interested in any comments telling me I DONT need to lose any more weight.NEGATIVE COMMENTS NEED NOT BE POSTED!!! I am 5'2 female with a very petite frame. For my body type I can safely reach 102lbs without being considered underweight. I currently weigh roughly 108-110 lbs. I have lost 40 lbs since I began this journey. I want to finally hit my goal of 105 lbs. I can not lose the last 3-5 lbs for the life of me! Yes some days I do slip and go over, but according to MFP I should still be losing weight, yet I am not. I tally all of my food correctly and if anything I may over calculate. I typically run 3 miles 4-6 days a week and I try to eat 1200-1400 or more calories per day (I dont usually "eat back" my exercise calories either)...so what is the deal? Why do I keep gaining and losing the same few pounds??

Replace 2-3 of your runs with strength training sessions (not on consecutive days)--if you lift heavy enough, you can change the way your whole body looks.
  • I completely understand what you want to achieve. Sometimes it helps to change diets. The last pounds are the most difficult to lose.
I have to admit that I starved myself last time I got there. After I reached my lowest weight I decided that I looked too thin and put on a few pounds again.
  • What does your diet look like? Also is your 3 mile run intense or at a moderate pace?

Forget the scales focus on body fat percentage...if may be that you do not have sufficient excess body fat to lose. But if you have excess body fat focus on building lean body mass (resistance/weight training).

BMI of 18 is very low, and in some areas it would be considered underweight, that said, some say 18 or 19 is still healthy...but it really does depend on body composition...bmi 18 or 19 and skinny fat is not a good look at all.

You come across very defensive, I assume that people in your life have expressed comments or concern about your weight loss, they know you better than we and have a visual reference.
  • thank you for your input everyone and thank you for not being negative :) my runs avg 10 min mile sometimes 8 min depending on if i am pushing my stroller or not :) I can be a bit defensive yes, probably due to the fact that everyone in my life is used to seeing me at near 160lbs after having my baby. At my heaviest i got plenty of rude comments but not by anyone on the outside it all came from ME on the inside i was not comfortable in my skin. now that i have lost the weight those close to me always have a negative opinion. i hear a lot of people call me obsessive and they tire of hearing me speak about my weight goals and this life style changing journey. one lady even told me i needed to stop losing weight bc i look anorexic (i do not at all! none of my bones are visible I dont look sullen or sick by any means and i do still have body fat in the belly and back i have muscular legs and toned arms) i suppose everyone has an opinion and i should take it with a grain of salt bc i feel better about myself now than ever before. Maybe i should cut out the late sugary snack and add some strength training to my routine, add more protein and lower the carb intake but still consume adequate amount of calories just get them from different sources....ie swap my ice cream for a piece of grilled chicken or nuts etc.

How long has it been since you've been stuck around the same #? You may just need to give it more time.

And in case you don't already - weigh everything, and account for everything. Even slices of bread and such which you might not think need to be put on a scale. Things like that are often heavy. Such as the label may say 1 serving = 2 slices (45g) but typical weight is actually 49-54g. Those little details add up, especially when you don't have a big deficit.
