The seven year struggle

I have been a part of myfitnesspal for a while. This is my first time posting. I have been struggling with my weight gor the past 7 years. The main problem I have is eating too much. I cut down on my eating and do regular exercises then I go back to eating poorly. If I miss two consecutive days of working out it then becomes weeks and months, then I beat myself up. They usually say it takes a village to raise a child and I want this to be my village where I have the support of people who are just like me and share the same struggles.

It will always be a struggle. It's never going to stop. It will get easier, but you can't give up. You don't need to beat yourself up for not working out. Are you still eating good? It takes 21 days to form a habit. Everyday you have to motivate yourself. Don't think you are alone.0

Are you doing too many things all at once? Are you falling into the all or nothing trap?
You do not have to change your whole life to lose weight. Drop a few things and add a few other things.0 -
I have been really trying to eat properly but I keep going back to the old habits. I'm at the heaviest I have ever been at 180 lbs, thats definitely not what a 5 ft 3 in woman should be weighing. Starting tomorrow I need to drop at least one habit and restart the journey. Thank you guys for being in my corner.0

This is what it sounds like to me as well. Pick one thing to change and focus on that, then the next, then the next. Changing too much at once makes it really easy to slip into old habits.0 -
There are tons of times I miss workouts, but I don't let it bother me or affect my future workouts. I just think, "oh well, that one didn't happen," and then I make up for it later. There's no reason it has to ruin your weight loss plans, either. If you don't workout, just don't eat as many calories. (In that way, I am encouraged to workout because I get to eat more on those days!)
Don't think of it as an all-or-nothing kind of thing: "I have to workout all the time and if I miss a day I just give up and quit." That's not how you succeed long term. Be flexible and adjust day to day. A bad day in the past shouldn't dictate your future. You can do this! :flowerforyou:0 -
Tiny steps I suppose. This week I'm turning a new page. I'lI be sure to give an update at the end of the week. Thanks guys.0

Failure doesn't mean giving up. When you give up, then you have failed. Baby steps!0

Don't feel too bad love, it's been a struggle for 11 years for me, I can do the same things, do too much, all or nothing. People are a vital part of the journey for sure. Finding ways to lose weight that is maintainable too, there are a lot of people who lose quickly and then go back to their old weights or heavier. See it as loving yourself wholly.

I have been at it for 9 years now. Dropped 30 lbs, then pickup 40lbs. I am into so many bad habits that I can't even count. I am starting to take the advice of changing one thing at a time for 3 weeks (28 days) before moving on to changing the next. Friend me if you want to break some common habits together.0
