I'm only on 1200 calories, so I'm not actually sure how to keep it that low for pre fast as I already go to bed slightly hungry, so how am I going to do that and then fast the next day? Post fast is pretty easy I think.... Should I eat some of my post fast calories pre fast? what do you think? what are you going to eat etc?

I'm not Jewish, but I was doing around 1200 when I fasted for Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and I didn't do anything special, but now I think it would have been more sensible to eat some of the calories I'd otherwise have eaten on the fast day the day before unless you think that goes against the concept of the fast.0

I am Bahái. We have a sunrise-to sunset fast for 19 days.
I think you have a couple of options for Tisha B'av as I understand it ( via Wiki).
1) Take in roughly 3600 calories today. I understand it is an entire 24 hour fast, sunset today, until sunset tomorrow.
2) In general, you can ward off hunger by choosing more fresh fruit, vegetables, and beans as food that provide a lot of satiety for a few calories.

thanks guys - fast starts at about 9pm Monday night and ends about 10 on Tuesday night.
Do I eat back some of my Tues calories on Monday so that I starting with more food in me or not bother and hope for best? (I am on 1200.)0 -
If you have to fast you can simply eat the calories you would have been allowed that day the day before. Plenty of people track their calories on a weekly not a daily basis anyway.0

IF (intermittent fasting) approach - eat all your calories before your fast starts and eat all your calories when your fast ends.
More or less eat normally before your fast and have a 1200 calories meal after your fast.0 -
Next time I fast (technically ours don't require full fasts, but I generally do a full fast or have some raw veggies for dinner at most), my plan is to eat at maintenance the day before, so that's what I'd recommend.0

Wish I would have seen your post a couple of days ago. Anyways hope you have an easy fast.0
