do you take vitamins?

What vitamins do you take? I started taking a multivitamin and biotin then today read that multivits may do more harm than good. Now I'm not sure.i was looking online to see if I should take calcium vitamins (I worry about bone and joint health thanks to family history) in addition to the multi becaise I know multivits have some in them. But now im just confused!

someone suggested (as an "everyone should take" type suggested) fish oil, biotin, calcium that has magnesium and zinc, multi vits and there was one other but I dont remember. So im just curious for the people who do take vits, what do you take?

*please don't tell me do my own research. I am. And I'm not going to take anyones replies as medical advice. I'm genuinely just curious. :-)

There is no evidence to suggest that a standard MV will cause any harm to you over a period of time. There have been studies correlating it, but never have they proved it as a cause. That said, if you eat a healthy balanced diet you most likely don't need one. But as most of us here are on calorie deficits it may be hard to get all those nutrients and stay under your calorie goal. I take half a vitamin a day since I eat around 2500 cals a day and get most of my nutrients from my food.

Besides that I take fish oil and vitamin D. Nothing else besides that.

I take multi, Co-Q10 for high cholesterol, garlic ( for high cholesterol) ,fiber, and just started taking potassium ( feeling faint/shaky at workouts). Previously took red yeast rice, flax seed oil capsules, and calcium supplements.
  • I was taking One a Day for women for a long time, along with an extra B Complex tablet (I'm a bit on the deficient side), glucosamine chondroitin (for my joints), St. John's Wort (for my moods), Ginko Biloba (helps me focus), and sometimes fish oil (I hate the after burps! so I usually mix ground flaxseed in whatever I'm cooking for dinner). Now I'm mainly taking pre natal vitamins b/c I'm TTC.

I have heard of multivitamins being a little iffy--simply because you may be overdoing certain vitamins/nutrients that you're already getting enough of through diet, but I think they're okay, considering the crap that passes for food these days. For instance, that might be PART of the reason pre natal's don't agree with a lot of women. They're often getting too much iron or whatever. Personally, I have no issues and feel physically better when I'm taking them.
