Help! slipping back into old habits

Finding it really hard to stick to healthy eating. Although I haven't had a big gain I really need to get it together before I blow it.

Any tips?

Ps Myfitnesspal get rid of the just eat takeaway ads you jerk lol!

Thankfully no ads in the app! But I've been trying to think ahead of time what to eat, write/journal it down and stick to it. My issue is whenever I find myself with unplanned food at my grasp, I suffer, I try to stay out of those... But slips happen :/

54lb lost says you must be doing something right! :drinker:

Do you know what your pattern is? e.g. do you feel most tempted (a) at a particular time of day, or (B) when eating out at a restaurant, or (c) after about 4 days in a row of sticking to your diet?

If you know when you're going to face temptation, you can prepare for it.

I have had the same problem recently. Work hard all week then weekends just want to eat everything in sight! I am only approx 1 stone away from target, 4 stone lost so far.
At the weekend. I went with my daughter to shop for an outfit for a wedding she is going to. Just for a laugh I tried on an outfit also and was amazed that I could get a size 14 fitted dress on - previously I was a 20-22. It looked ok!

This is my new inspiration, this weekend I WILL NOT BINGE. Just wish I had thought to take a photo!

I am sure you must feel different, healthier? I know I do. I can climb the hill near near my home without getting out of breath, I used to nearly have to do it on my hands and knees:sad:
Have you got a before picture to stick to the kitchen cupboards? I haven't as I wouldn't have my picture taken, but I could see this would be useful to show how far you have come.
Good luck , hopefully we will both succeed

You've done really well but I know exactly what you mean - if you aren't careful you could undo all your hard work. I'd recommend switching to maintenance calories for a while - a couple of weeks, a few months, however long you need - that way you can eat a little more which will reduce your hunger/cravings and allow you to have a few more treats without gaining weight. Once you feel you're in control again, adjust your calorie allowance downwards again. Good luck.

Not sure if you've checked this out, but it's helpful to me.
Can't see your diary so I don't have any specific tips.
I plan on being around for a while and I'm active if you'd like to add me :)

Like other posters have said, evaluate what exactly is going on in your life during the times you go off track. Our emotions can derail our efforts to lead a healthier life. We have to treat this like a battle and have strategies and back up stragtegies to combat our enemies. Planning ahead is one of the best pieces of advise you can take and start doing. Unplanned eating is asking for trouble. How many times are we going to cotinue to act like Charlie Brown, when he cotinues to fall for Lucy's mind games, making him think she will hold the ball for him to kick, only to move it at the last moment and he falls on his face. This is when we say to ourselves, "I won't plan what I eat over the weekend but I will eat healthy, or "when I go to this restuarant with my friends, I will eat a salad". When the weekend comes and you go to eat with your friends, the "football" is pulled from under us. We don't eat healthy over the weekend, we don't eat a salad at the restuarant, we eat the high fat/greasy food, but instead of stopping or eating with moderation, we tell ourselves "well since I've gone this far, I might as well cotinue" and we go on a full blown binger. This is a vicious cycle that has to stop. There is nothing wrong with eating your favorites foods, when you correctly plan for it, but do yourself a favor and compromise where you can. Substitute some foods for others, example, if going to Mexican restuarant, skip the chip bowl and order water, but enjoy your burrito/enchiladas. At home, the age old advise that still stands, DON"T KEEP FOODS THAT YOU CAN"T CONTROL IN YOUR HOUSE! or find healthy alternatives to your favorites. For me, my favorite snack is popcorn, I can't eat it in moderation, but I can't stand air popped and don't want to eat unhealthy microwave popcorn. I was so happy to find the Skinny Pop brand, it's delicious but doesn't kill me with a lot of bad ingredients. So if I go overboard, I don't feel as bad. Keep your final goals in the fore front of your mind, we tend to forget, we get mentally lazy. Each day, if I am faced with a choice to eat something off the plan/not exercise, I ask myself, "Is this going to help me reach my final goal?" If the answer is no, I have a better chance of CHOOSING not do the action. Finally, remember, we all slip up, there is no such thing as being perfect, but each day is a new day to do something different.

I was going to list reasons why this is not practical but I get the feeling If I did you would bite my head off so I won't bother but basically this won't happen although I might be able to do it the night before.

And FYI I have not ordered a takeaway off this laptop nor have I ever watched porn yet I still get these adverts (ps no porn though on MFP) and I live alone with a 19 month old so nobody has accessed these type of sites on my laptop hence why i thought it was MFP that did it.

For all those who were supportive thank you, it helps to know I am not alone. I think it is because I am very close to the end of a uni year and 1 week away from my driving test. However I am back logging and jogging. Fingers crossed I can lose the next 50 like I lost the last!

I prelogged my day 95% of the time. I prep food sometimes the night before... and I stick to a specific workout routine. (I.e. Monday - crossfit / tuesday - ballet / wednesday run/crossfit... etc).

I need the structure to be successful.

Definitely don't allow yourself to get hungry. The worst is when I am hungry/starving and then I blow it with a huge consumption that turns into a habit. Eat frequent small meals or snacks and keep healthy options at arm reach such as fruits, nuts, etc. If you eat smaller portions consistently you will have a hard time screwing up with a gigantic meal and even your moments of overindulgence will be better in comparison. If that makes sense.

:flowerforyou: Keep focused and keep moving forward!

find your motivation first thing every morning (its in there believe me)...some days will be easier than others but motivation is key...without it you will not make the choices needed to succeed :) best of luck to you!

I do the same. I also include ice cream almost every single day (weighed out), sometimes a cookie or a donut, if it's offered. I've found that including it every day has helped immensely with the urges to go for those things when I'm stressed out. Also focusing on meeting my calorie/macro goals and not deviating from my planned workouts helps. This is a really good guide for filling out your diary, and it changed the way I think about my diet. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/925464-fitting-it-in-giggity
