We work our butt off. I work 7 days a week, I keep 1 complete Saturday off a month, maybe 2. So of course we are looking forward to a couple days away. Enjoying the sun, beach, the all inclusive life. Leaving in 5 days.

And then..........

Maybe it's like here (Florida) where it storms every day but it's only for an hour or so, if that.

    Yeah, I agree.

We went on a family vacation last year for 4 days, it rained 2 days straight and we lost electricity. We fished, played games, grilled in the rain. Best. Family vacation. Ever.

We went on a "no kids" vacation a couple years ago and it rained one full day, we were stuck in the house, wet, with no kids. Best. Vacation. Ever.

Perhaps even more of an annoying concept than starvation mode or eating clean.

It shouldn't be too bad, all the times I have been to Mexico it rains for maybe an hour a day and the rest of the time it is just gorgeous... and the sound of rain hitting the ocean surface can be very calming. I hope it is just wonderful for you!!

PS: the guys at the airport carrying ak-47s can look a little menacing but they are the "good" ones

We recently went to North Carolina on vacation. The weather was supposed to be 50-70% chance of rain every day. We had one night of rain - the night before we left. Good luck! :)

We went to Jamaica on vacation and had the same forecast. It only rained three times for about 1-2 hours each time. I wouldn't get too upset.

I live in SC and I always tell people our forecast during the summer is always hot, humid and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Yeah, I'm gonna guess (and on some days it actually says PM T-storm) that these are just quick afternoon storms that last maybe an hour and then you're good to go again. Call it nap time or happy hour or nooky time - or all three. :drinker:  :blushing:

I get where you're coming from though. Not travelling but I had my Dad visiting for a couple of days and wanted to go on some nice hikes but no, it had to rain the whole darn time, including a major thunderstorm. Thankfully he likes shopping for quirky things so we spent most of our day checking out the antique shops and thrift stores.

That son of a biznatch Bertha is ruining my coastal assault next week too. Scattered thunderstorms are intermittent though so we should be able to find some good cornholing weather

You can't trust a forecast from so many days away.

Every Caribbean vacation I took showed that same weather forecast, and it was never true. Maybe it would rain for like an hour then the sun would come out. Worst was that it rained and thundered all night, after a beautiful day. As long as there are no hurricanes coming your way, I'm sure you'll be fine and have a great trip. I'm leaving for Riviera Maya this weekend too!

    Yep.

Tropical climate, summer ... It's most likely going to rain at least for a little while. But mornings at least should be clear.

Plus, as I said, it's several days away and it could change every hour between now and then.

Cancel the trip... it isn't worth it.

This is the best suggestion so far. I would cancel my own wedding over something like this. Rain is bad luck.

We did a family trip to Mauii and it rained and was COLD! the entire time. A week of rotten weather. The natives were complaining that they were having to actually turn on the heat. It sucked. I hope your vacation turns out better.

Lol. You booked your trip during rainy season. What did you expect? Do your research next time if the weather bums you out this much.

We're planning a trip to the Caribbean in the coming year and we would never plan during the rainy season. Most regions have a period of 3-4 months that are much more rainy than the rest of the year. You can't act surprised that it's raining during the rainy season. In Mexico/the Caribbean/Florida/the tropics, the rainy season often means sudden 1-2 hr downpours followed by sun and rainbows. Unfortunately, they can also mean tropical storms, hurricanes, and gale force winds.

Consider travel insurance for future trips if you plan to travel during hurricane season.

Puerto Vallarta during the rainy season is pretty magical. The flowers are blooming, the jungle is super lush. The lightning storms over the bay are beautiful! Usually it just rained about an hour or so in the afternoon, then cleared up for the night. It was very muggy, though. We had a blast.

I've planned a hike twice this summer and both times it rained. I only get one day off a week to do anything. But... nothing you can do about the weather so why whine about it?

Ha...I had a Florida trip last year where the forecast said the same thing. Fortunately, the rain and storms were mostly daily, but brief, so we still enjoyed sunshine most of the trip. Hopefully the same will happen for you! Also....rainy weather, especially if it's a lush area, CAN be quite pretty and sufficiently enjoyable with the right clothes! Might just involve a slight change in activity :)
