Have a cold but want to Exercise

I have a cold and some coughing, but I need to workout to make sure I fall into a caloric deficit. On Mondays I usually do the Precor for 30 mins and then Run on the treadmill at a 5.4 for 30 minutes followed by some upper body weight training. However, I feel that with my nasal and chest congestion the running may pose a problem. I want to run, but I feel I may have to do something else that requires less of a breathing challenge. Any suggestions on how I can get the same amount of burn with less stress on my breathing?

Try doing some yoga or minor weight lifting. Doing ab exercises also don't put that much strain on breathing. Or just go for a long walk0

Thanks, was thinking of maybe doing the stairs. That doesn't cause my breathing to get out of control. But it may irritate it.0

Get yourself some Halls Defense Vitamin C drops I just got over a cold much quicker by using them. They're just like cough drops, only it's to defend and increase your immune system.0

Please work out at home instead of going to the gym.0

Good idea, maybe some body weight exercises will do just fine.0

Exercise can actually help colds, but like the other user said, try working out at home to spare the others at the gym.0

you're sick and need the energy to recover. eat healthy and avoid working out. a big calorie deficit and too much exercise could've caused your cold.0

Just focus on getting better. Worry about the deficit after you've recovered.
If you REALLY feel the need to do some exercise, go for a walk.0
