Cheating is Wrong--Unless You Won't Get Caught

I totally agree with the 2nd part...but as for the first part...even some animals mate for life. I (personally) don't feel it's so difficult to pull off. Besides...some people do, right? (now whether or not that is with or without fidelity, I don't know )
Some animals do! It's interesting to see the rate of promiscuity among great apes as compared to among some types of birds, fish, and even lower primates. Great apes in general don't mate for life, but they do form intensely emotional and symbiotic pair bonds with multiple individuals. It's really fascinating stuff.
Just because animals mate for life, doesn't mean that they never get some on the side. DNA testing of the offspring has sometimes revealed surprising truths.
Yup, fun reading for those interested:

True 100% monogamy in any species is probably not a thing. It can certainly happen in individual pairings, but as a species, when studied extensively, you can almost always find examples of extra-pair copulation events.0 -
the dude wants to impregnate everyone...its natural.
Speak for yourself, there, holmes.0 -

With birds...quotes like this "One study found that for black swans (Cygnus atratus), some one in six cygnets were fathered by a different daddy from the one sitting on their nest." makes me wonder if they tested for the MOMMY DNA as well. You don't necessarily have to lay your egg in the next you built, you know.0 -

LOL, very true.
Fun fact: This is why we had to stop doing blood typing as a lab in LS1 at UCLA, too many angry parent calls when dear son/daughter started questioning how they ended up with type A blood from parents that were both type O....0 -
It really escapes me why people find monogamy so difficult. I mean, maybe it's just because I have such an outstanding wife, but I always thought that I was a bit biased on that assessment.0

We are evolved enough to know cheating is morally wrong.0

What he said. My wife is so awesome.0 -
Statistics say that men who refer to themselves as dog or dogs or dawg are 137% more likely to do google searches on cheating than everyone else on the planet.

So if my wife sticks to her seat when she sees Chris Hemsworth, does that count as cheating?0

I just asked hubby if there were no consequences would he cheat on me. Quick answer was no... same for me. No. We have no need nor desire to cheat on each other. I guess we are like the penguins, mated for life.0

I'm so impresed!! From all these people on this blog, not one admit to be cheating. Yeah right!!! My friend is a provate investigator and it surprise me when I see videos he takes to be use as evidence in court. So surprise to see people I would never ever ever imagine they would be cheaters. Church goers, teachers, regular housewives, men that have the most beatifull women as wives, etc. All kind of people. Is incredible to see things like that. We can't say is never gonna happen, because I guarantee you, more than half of the time, it will.0

When it comes to cheating, it seems there's a huge double standard. Eighty-two percent of people polled said they have zero tolerance for cheating in their relationships; yet almost the exact same percentage--81 percent--also said they would cheat if there were zero consequences. Really?
A cheating topic from this OP...
I already told my husband I would have an affair with Travis Fimmel (Ragnar -Vikings) or Charlie Hunnam (Jax Teller- SOA) consequences or not .. just saying :bigsmile:0 -
I heard a theory that said a female who's mom cheated is more likely to cheat same as a male who's dad had cheated. My parents been together over 50 years with one infidelity which was by mom.....so I guess I am doomed to be a cheater.
Depending on where you live more people now days throw morals to the side for me though I don't want a cheater.0 -
If by "no consequences", what if some took that to mean, their partner found out but was OK with it? Would that still be classed as cheating? Just a thought.
From my point of view, you don't disrespect the person you're with by doing something that you both agree you wouldn't do / that one or both is strongly against. Most people (myself included) don't want cheating on either side, so you don't do it, it's that simple in my head. If you want to sleep with other people, fantastic, be single or have an open relationship or something, don't go into a monogamous relationship and then go against all that it stands for. Regardless on your opinions on if it's "natural" or not.
Then there's just those idiots who really do want a faithful relationship, but only on the part of the other person, not on their part. I know someone like this. He openly (but not openly to the girls he's seeing) sleeps around, while they think they've been in a monogamous relationship for several months/years. If you ask him what he'd do if they slept with someone else, leave them of course..."because it's ok for men".. Double standards much?0 -
