Getting Started Strength Training

Options
Hi All,

I don't currently belong to the gym, and I am looking to start strength training. There are so many sites and regimens recommended on google, and I am a little overwhelmed. Are there any good beginner programs y'all can recommend? I have decent strength in my legs, but very poor upper body strength. I purchased some free weights and a stability ball. TIA!

    Hi there,

I felt exactly the same when I started reading around about strength training.

Stronglifts 5x5 is a good beginners program, there is a Stronglifts 5x5 group and there are lots of women who are always willing to help.

    Best of luck!

Definitely. He also has some great instructional youtube videos you can look up. That book + those videos will teach you proper form.

Also look up StrongLifts 5x5 and follow that routine for 12 weeks.

What kind of free weights did you get? Barbell and plates? Adjustable dumbbells?

I basically do Stronglifts, but adapted the moves to dumbbell usage, since that's all I have at my disposal.
