I want to load my zune with new songs to keep me motivated at the Carlsbad Half marathon this Sunday ( I pulled my groin and since Saturday 8th, when I ran 13 miles, have only ran 5 miles since...so I am a little worried, as I want 1:45 (best is 1:57)

My favorite song that keeps me motivated is Sedated...anyone have any good songs they run to? I am hoping that songs will keep me at a good pace.

I like upbeat songs - i.e. Lady Gaga, Britney, etc. I ran a 10K this past November and my "power" song was Bulletproof by La Roux. This may not be your type of music but it keeps ya pumped up!

    Good luck on the race!

I'm usually into metal but I can't stop listening to this (non-metal song). Amazing sound coming from just a two man band.

    SUNBEARS! - "Little Baby Pines"

don't stop me now by queen is my favorite song to get me pumped. I always listen to it in the last stretch of my run
  • Everyone's taste is different....so it's hard to say. Personally, I run best when I'm listening to fun, upbeat, or nostalgic songs. Think up the most random songs that make you smile and/or laugh - and load those! Google the top 100 songs from the year you graduated high school or some other random year like that to get some ideas. Don't listen to it until the day of your race and you'll be flying through it!

    Good luck!

Pink has a bunch of upbeat songs on her FunHouse album. (FunHouse, So what, Please don't leave me, Bad Influence.) I'm all about the girl power right now. Lol. Fergalicious gets me everytime cuz "I be up in the gym workin' on my fitness", Rhianna's Rude boy and Only girl in the world never fail at getting me to kick it up a notch. Good luck!!

For me, the best thing to do is get Pandora on your phone. First of all, the music is tailored around what YOU love (and music tastes are incredibly specific... at least, they are to me). But the best part is that it gives you something to do while you're working out... you have to choose thumbs up or thumbs down for each song that plays so you can streamline your station even more. Since I've started doing this, I barely even notice time spent on the treadmill. And when I am doing something, like riding my bike, where I can't really interact as much, it's still a pretty awesome station... cuz I made it. :smokin:

Great suggestions. I am hoping to start running after a long (7 year!) hiatus. Looking forward to loading the iPod and getting the new Nike+ watch with TomTom GPS (it reminds you to exercise!).
I am thinking of including in my song list:

"Forget You" the Glee PG-rated version of Cee-Lo Green's F-you.
"Little Lion Man" by Mumford & Sons -- I hope there's a non-explicit (e.g. radio version of this song).
    "Magic" - B.O.B.

I like the first 2 of these because of the pace - not too fast -- probably more like a fast walk pace/start of run.
