Dress Pants Issues

I had several embarrassing pants issues as I steadily gained weight over the years. Many times at work my dress slacks were so tight around the waist they were uncomfortable and looked bad and after lunch I would need to loosen my belt and unhook-unbutton my pants so I could be comfortable. I had to switch to the dress slacks with the expanding waistline which were great and comfortable but often did not look the most stylish. One time I bought a pair of pants (I refused to go a size higher then my standard at the time) at Joseph Banks and I normally don't shop there. The dress slacks were for an out of town graduation. I made the mistake of not trying them on until the day of the graduation. They did not fit at all and I could barely even zipper them. I had no other pants with me and I had to spend the day with my shirt untucked trying to cover up my unbuttoned and partially zippered pants. I looked like a fat slob.

Fast forward 6 years and 40 lbs lighter and now my pants wont stay buttoned because they are too loose! When I tighten my belt it forces the latch to separate because there's excess material. My 40s are pretty much un-wearable and now my 38s are now becoming a little loose.

That is the best victory! I recall how hard and frustrating it was to find clothes that fit when I was at my heaviest. I have my own memories of trying to hide the unbuttoned pants!! Congrats on your progress, and may there be much more success to come!!

You beat me to the post I was just going to do one on dress pants. Not only do I wear them for work but they are khaki. (The most unflattering color ever invented, thanks hotel I work my butt off for.) I use to have to wear size 20 slacks with the stretch sides I know what you mean about unflattering cuts. But this last week I was able to do 2 first. Shop at Macy's and buy 2 pairs of 16s that are loose enough to fit a tucked in shirt into and give me thigh room and don't cut into my stomach (always had the painted on dress pant effect.)

Dress pants suck but I'm so happy there's another person out there who has won the war with them. Congrats! !!
