Early wake up - breakfast?

Hey everyone, quick one that I can't get my head around. I wake up at 6.30am-7 and am off to work at 8. I'm usually pretty hungry when I wake up. The first time I could eat at work is 9.15, but by then I'm often so ravenous that I start the day off kinda miserable! What would you do? What would you eat, and what are some super simple things to take to work as breakfast if I need to. No dairy/wheat :)

Whenever I buy produce at the store, I bring it home and immediately cut it up and portion it in smaller containers. This might help with the time crunch if all you have to do is grab and go.

I do boiled eggs, you can boil them the night before, and put them in a ziploc with some salt&pepper, or maybe celery with nut butter? Ants on a log style. I know you said no wheat but can you do oats? I made oatmeal with coconut milk and portioned it out and ate it cold , like rice pudding.

This was happening to me until a few days ago, I have a smoothie now when I wake up to get me through the morning workout etc and then have my actual breakfast after and at a more sensible time for me to actually want to eat it :)

You are ravenous because you are waiting almost 3 hours between waking up and eating breakfast at work! Eat something quick when you wake up!

I've been waking up at 5:30 for a 6:00 workout at the gym 2x/week for a few weeks. What I do for a pre-workout meal is an oatmeal smoothie, which I make the night before. I ground a few cups of oats in my spice grinder and store in a mason jar. For the smoothie, I do 1/4-1/2 cup ground oats, 1 cup almond milk, a touch of maple syrup or honey, and a fruit - bananas, peaches, etc. I can drink this while I get ready, and it gives me carbs and a bit of protein to help me get through the workout without feeling like I'm starving! After my workout, I show and drink a protein shake on my way to work. I typically make both the night before so they are ready to go and I don't wake up my husband in the morning.

Other options besides smoothies - protein bars (I like to make a batch of my own), handful of nuts, spoonful of nut butter, hard boiled eggs. Lots of options.

Ooo what's your protein bar recipe? thanks for these great ideas everyone, especially that they include oats - it's my go to breakfast food!

I usually eat breakfast around 6:30 since I have to be out of the house by 7 a.m. I microwave one organic egg (70) with a sharp low fat cheddar cheese stick (90) and then follow it up with a small banana (90). Only 250 calories and keeps me happy until my snack at 9:30.

Why can't you eat when you get up? Just get up 10 mins earlier.

I'm on maternity leave now, but when I was at work I was getting up at 6 and had to get breakfast for myself and 2 kids before leaving at 7:40am for school/nursery drop offs before going to work. I have poached eggs or porridge most mornings. It doesn't take long.

I'm always hungry in the morning, so I'll eat a couple of chocolate covered almonds and a protein drink for the ride to work (I don't know why I only eat 2 almonds, I just do). Then at work I have "2nd breakfast". I usually have ice cream, a couple of eggs I make in the microwave and a protein latte. I used to have a 20 oz bottle of water with some type of flavored mix-in and a protein bar for the ride, but I wanted more carbs for ice cream.

Make your own breakfast burritos. Wrap them individually in plastic and then store in a gallon-sized bag in the freezer. You can use corn tortillas and whatever fillings you like. If you premake them on your day off, you can just grab one and microwave for a few minutes. Easy peasy.

I use the recipes on the Oh She Glows website (http://ohsheglows.com/categories/recipes-2/breakfast/breakfast-energy-bars-balls/) , and add a scoop or two of protein powder. They are more of a snack for me, but I'm sure they'd work for breakfast. They are sooooo delicious! They last for a week or so in the fridge (start to dry out a bit after) and they freeze really well too.
