Nursing a pulled groin

So after losing 100+ pounds I decided to take some dance classes. This past weekend I went to a conference and danced my butt off all Saturday. That was fine the part that got me was when a kid asked me if I could do a cartwheel... Long story short, pulled my groin muscle! Ouch! So now 4 days later i am still hurting. What do i do from here? I had a 5K tonight, but that is obviously not happening. But you can see i need this to get better and heal right. So any stretches that i can do or any advice is well appreciated. Also when can i dance, workout and run again? Thanks so much in advance!

Just rest. Same thing for overworked muscle strain.
Stretch if you can.
Alternate heat and ice.
Take it easy and do other exercises that don't hurt instead.0 -
I've done that a couple of times. It sucks, really sucks. There isn't really any exercise you can do that won't aggravate it, and so you really have to just rest. If it just happened, I wouldn't even stretch it yet, just ice. After about 48 hours you can try alternating heat and ice, and do some light massaging and stretching. But be very careful not to overdo it with the stretching. After about a week try some light exercise and see how it feels. I think both times it took about two weeks before I was back to regular exercise. Of course, the first time I didn't actually rest for more than a couple of days so it continued for weeks, before I finally accepted that I just needed to stop everything. Recovery time is quicker of you just rest to begin with.0

Thanks for the advice. It is starting to feel better. I did very light stretching this morning and am walking on tip toes so I don't limp as much. I it takes the strain off it for some reason. My hubby bought me a treadmill and it is being delivered today... I hope I can break it in a lil bit ???? And vacation with my family this weekend... I have a hike scheduled. Lets see what happens! Thanks again all!0

The groin can be a tricky muscle to heal, be careful with it. If you have a foam roller get it up in there and roll it a little as well.0
