So, I got a fortune cookie today, that said "AS SOON AS YOU FEEL TOO OLD TO DO A THING, DO IT."

The timing was perfect, because I had been thinking to myself over the last few days, "I'm almost 50, and have been overweight for most of my life. Why am I REALLY trying to lose weight? I say I want to lose 50 lbs to be healthy, but really-- if I'm honest, is this really about a last gasp attempt at youth and beauty before it eludes me for good?"

Where have you all found unexpected inspiration/ motivation?

 I got one this week that said "Now is the time to enhance your female attributes" I was like "SEE HUSBAND, even FATE wants me to get a boob job!"

I usually get my inspiration from great song lyrics

Suddenly seeing me in the mirror and realising it was me and not an old, fat woman I didn't know!

After many years of SAYINGI 'wanted to be thinner' (I had been a curvaeous 16-18 most of my life), I now realise I didn't want to really ; because in part I thought I was okay (health and looks).

That worked until I was about 48. From then on my size grew, and 'age' and 'gravity' have made me notice things about myself .... a little more creaky! (53 now)

That reflection was a shocker! I do want to try and look my best, and yes, perhaps it is a last bash dream of once again feeling like a babe (emphasis on FEELING like one as I will still be 'older' so unlikely to look like one). 50 is the new 30 you know! lol! However more than anything I want to feel unashamed and pleased that I am being responsible for me and my health. I used to be a strong, hot, confident woman..... what happened to her, she wasn't in that relfection!

    Motivation for me:
To not feel something (creaky, old, unattractive,) is driving me more that wanting to feel something (fit, young, attractive) at the mo!

So whilst we all need the support and encouragement of friends etc, I think unless we really find THAT THING that is important enough to drive us to achieve our goal, and it will be different for all of us, it is hard to keep on keeping on! BUT ..... motivational anything (cookies, quotes, articles and good friends who understand our plight) all help top us up when we feel a little worn out!
