Chia seeds: to soak or not to soak

Options
I have dry chia seeds at home and throw some in when making a smoothie. Should I soak them first (I did at one time and it keeps for quite awhile in the fridge but they get forgotten about and I don't want to waste them) or just throw them in dry? Which is better for digestion?

I throw them in dry and wait 5-10 minutes - I add chia seed (in the form of Holy Crap) to yogurt, smoothies, salads, etc. It's a great boost!

Thank you! Next time, I'll just throw them in the liquid and walk away for a few.

If I make oatmeal, I will put a tablespoon of chia seeds in a little bit of milk to soak for a few minutes while I'm cooking. When I make a smoothie, I just throw them in the blender. When I was using my Hamilton Beach personal blender it left the chia seeds whole and I would wait about five minutes before drinking my smoothie. However, now that I have a Nutribullet, it completely pulverizes the chia seeds and there is no need to wait.
