Hi,
I have an issue that I love to try amazing food made bu great chefs... My wife too and even though we both getting into healthier life style we still like to go out and have a delicious meal!
Now, my question is how to fit those meals into my plan? How do you guys do it? Cheat meals, extra calories...?
Cheers

Big cardio workouts. My usual workout is 65 minutes on the elliptical. On a blow out day in the weekend it might be 90 minutes in the morning. This gives me enough calories to order pretty much anything I want.0

Yep, the easiest way is exercise calories. I do a long bike ride and a long run on the weekends, so end up with lots of extra calories to use.
You can save some up throughout the week if your totals are more consistent, however. I used to do that.0 -
Cheat meal once in a while. Otherwise, I pick an healthier option and try to make that fit in my day (typically dessert is what does me in, can't go to a nice restaurant without having dessert!).0

Careful selections and portion control.0

I don’t intentionally gorge myself and call it a cheat meal. I try to stay within my macros no matter where I eat. We eat out a lot. In the morning before breakfast, I will Google the restaurant and go to their menu, figure out what I’m going to order, log that into dinner, then I know how much I have left over for breakfast and lunch.0

Yeah me too. I choose fish generally and skip dessert and bread, but I don't bother logging nor do I call it a cheat meal. I just go for moderation. It's called life and I'd rather focus on enjoying the company. I eat out maybe once every 2 weeks.0 -
I feel your pain!
I work in a restaurant, and our Chef's food is to die for. Most of my friends are also in the restaurant industry at some pretty great places, so when visiting them at work I love to try the different items on their menus as well. It's definitely been a challenge!!
I try to pick the healthiest item possible. Sometimes the healthiest protein will come with the unhealthiest accompaniments and sauces, so keep an eye out for that! I log as best as I can, always overestimating a little bit. Typically there's more butter and oil in restaurant food, even the healthier options, than you'd think.
If I know I'm going out to eat that evening I combat it with a lot of cardio earlier in the day. If I go out on a whim I try to make it up the next day with cardio.0 -
Thanks guys, I guess exercise and portion control is what sounds like a best idea,
Thanks all!!0 -

I eat whatever and deal with it later. Generally if i'm going out to a restaurant, I'm ordering whatever sounds good on the menu, which usually means lots of dishes, I can deal with whatever damage I do later. Works for me, may not work for everyone0
