Does it matter what time?

I tend to go for a long evening walk, as well as doing other exercise throughout the day. And I usually eat my dinner at 4pm. Does it matter what time I go for these walks? My meals are usually between 300-600 calories, and I usually tend to burn around 300-500calories through walking alone. Is this still beneficial to me losing weight?

Personally I say time doesn't matter unless it creates other issues for you. Such as if you need to wind down before going to sleep then a night time walk might not be in your best interests. But as far as weight loss is concerned, it doesn't matter.

No it does not matter what time you walk. Yes the walk will still be beneficial no matter when you do it.

Why would it matter what time? Are you concerned about being too sweaty or wound up for sleep?

Meal timing and exercise timing have nothing to do with weight loss.

More or less ^^. There's a small amount of evidence that working out in the morning can boost your TDEE very slightly through the day after you're done with the workout, but certainly nothing significant. And if it's affecting your sleep (as mentioned above), then you might want to try to schedule it earlier. But other than that, it's FAR more important that you just do it, rather than what time you do it, you know? If the choice is do it late at night vs not do it at all, do it late at night, no brainer.

When you eat, and when you work out are virtually meaningless. Schedule workouts and meals for times that work for you and will lead to the highest degree of compliance.

+1. As long as your evening walk doesn't interfere with your sleep, timing doesn't matter.
  • i suggest you should go for a walk after meals

Sometimes I eat some of my biggest meals right before bed. Like sometimes i'll eat them in bed. I haven't gained a single pound. Eat and exercise whenever you want. As long as you aren't eating over you're daily calorie budget, you will not gain weight. It is simply impossible. :)
  • Thanks guys I'm just not losing as much weight as I would like even with exercise but think it's cause I weigh everyday :(

For weight loss, meal/exercise timing is totally irrelevant.

Some people have personal preferences or digestive issues, but it's whatever works for you.
