Why are there pizza adds flashing at me

I just logged on to my food entry and a pizza add is flashing at me on the top border telling me to ORDER NOW!

That just seems cruel!!

    It was doing that to me too the first few times I logged in here. Someone pointed out to me that these are "behavioral targeting" ads that are tailored to each user based on their past browsing history. It made sense to me since I order pizza online from Dominoes :) Once you change your browsing habits, those ads will change too.

    My guess is that you've ordered a lot it.

    The ads you get are generally a reflection of what you search, discuss and buy.

    I bought a car a year ago and am still getting car ads, usually from one company. That company doesn't give up, lol.

    I looked up how to make a certain illegal drug in your house because I was watching Breaking Bad and there was talk on TV about how the instructions to make it were all over the Internet. I got rehab ads for months, lol. :)

    I used to send emails to my extremely preachy vegan co worker with white text mentioning steaks, fried chicken, bbq etc. She just stopped using internet at work because she thought the internet was bullying her since all she saw were adds about meat

    I would rather see pizza ads than the one from the Michigan Department of Community Health about gambling addictions that keep popping up when I'm on here. If I accidentally put my cursor over the ad it expands and starts playing a video.

    AdBlocker is your friend. I haven't seen an ad on this site since my first day. They still know what I look at/search I suppose, but at least I don't have to KNOW that they know...most of the time.:ohwell:

    I get bank ads, amazon, and hotels. I was searching for hotels for my job and now all the ads I see are advertising hotels.

    lol I just got one from Domino's that says "give in to your cravings now!" not sure what this is a reflection of...my browser history shows I give into cravings or that I love pizza...both of which tend to be true!!! haha

    Right now I have ads for baseball tickets and Fiber One wants me to add them on pinterest. In the past, AdChoices has suggested in the MFP margins:

    I've currently got adds for Urban Decay makeup on here because I'm constantly browsing makeup places at work. Oops heheh.

    Although I have adds from Dominos and Jimmy Johns frequently as well since I've places orders for them on this computer.

    I don't buy things on my phone and rarely use the browser (mostly for using mfp when the app is not working right) and I get the pizza ads too.

    I don't think it's based on only the things you buy. For instance, if you use Google, the ads are tailored to anything you search for, as well as anything you ever type in an email. Google knows EVERYTHING about you. It's a little (or a lot) creepy.

    Ah thanks for letting me know, this is the first I'm hearing of it. I monitor that card regularly, but I'll watch it better!
