How much have you really lost?

I'm new to MFP as of today, I switched from MyNetDiary because it wanted money for all the good reports and stuff. I was just wondering, because I have been serious about losing weight for about three months, how accurate are the calculations on MFP? When your "My Home" says you lost a certain amount of pounds, is it close to how many you have actually lost by scale? I don't own a scale *smh* but I do get to use one every month or so when I visit relatives so I need to know if the predicted weight loss is close or not so I'm not in for a surprise.

Thanks,

you will find the projected weight loss varies day by day. if i went by mine as i went along, i would have definitely been disappointed. i did mark it on a calendar for a while but gave up because it was giving me the wrong idea of 'success' as in, i wasn't having as much as i thought i should.

if you can, take some measurements and maybe some photos. then, weigh yourself whenever you can and don't worry about the scale as you go along just weigh yourself next time and log it in. :drinker:

Since i have been using mfp i have lost about 20lbs! I think its very accurate, and just makes you more aware overall! The community is great and has a ton of info! Plus using the trackers and having friends makes you stay more motivated!! Good Luck too you!!!

Yeah the motivation of the pound counter is going to be major motivation for me. Thanks for the replies, I think I should be safe guesstimating that I've lost at least 75% of what MFP says I have. I'll check for sure when I can.
