Anything magical about no Carb Diets?

When it comes to actual sustainable fat loss… it still boils down to CICO.
People typically choose low carb diets for a few reasons… 1) A low carb diet may be medically necessary for a few legitimate medical problems, such as diabetes, etc. 2) Some people find that carbs, specifically sugar, is like an addiction to them and they have a hard time moderating their intake, so it's better for them to just cut it out (as much as possible). Once that happens, they feel better and the cravings eventually subside (much like alcohol addictions). 3) The appeal of being able to "eat as much as you want" so long as you stay below a certain amount of carbs.
As carbs form a great majority of the American diet… it usually results in a calorie deficit. Combine that with loss of water weight and glycogen depletion… it appears to come off very fast. But if you are not also counting calories… it's becomes very easy to replace your carbs with other food and the weight eventually either plateaus out or even comes back.
So, no…. there is nothing magic about low carb diets. When it comes to weight loss it's still CICO. The key is finding an eating plan that works for you and that you can sustain. People do lose weight going low carb. They can also lose weight going low fat. They can lose weight on a vegan diet. They can lose weight on a paleo diet. And almost always they will be healthier for it… no matter which way they choose. It doesn't make any one of them magic or "the only (or best) way to lose weight."0 -

Or 4) I'd just prefer to spend my calories on the sauce, a fattier cut of meat, or a big *** salad instead of the pasta or bread.Especially since I've never been able to cook pasta properly to save my life, good bread is expensive 'round here, and I love salads and steak.
