Holidays!

Hey all,
I was just wondering if you have any tips/routines that you enforce when you go on holiday as to avoid destroying all of your hard work!
Do you eat what you want but continue to train? go running etc? or do you keep counting while your away? I am guessing most will have different opinions on this ^_^
I am thinking of eating what I want in moderation and making sure I do a lot of walking on the evenings and maybe the odd run in the morning! what do you all think?

Your plan sounds like a good one to me!
My usual plan is to stick with a small breakfast like I normally have at home, then do all of the walking & hiking & sight seeing I possibly can, so I have plenty of calories to indulge with lunch and/or dinner.
However my trips are usually 1-3 days, and I haven't yet tried this method with a longer, week plus vacation like I'm planning in September. I guess we'll see how it goes ;-) I'd imagine with a longer trip I would get more into my usual patterns of eating and probably just indulge once a day.0 -
I think you should eat what you want.
If you want to eat healthy food, do that.
If you want to eat junk food, do that.
Decide what you want and then do it! And be happy doing it.0 -
I'm on day 12 of my holiday ...kind of keen to get home to my scales
I changed my calories from 1200 to 1450 (eg from 2lb to 1lb loss) ...We are in a villa and I've been eating a lot of salads, avocados and tuna, ham or egg as protein plus some cheese but also having some snacks like crisps and biscuits
I've blown my calorie limit on about 3 days by up to 250 calories because we eat out and I can't always choose fish and salad
I'm wearing my fitbit and trying to log at least 10K each day (missed a couple but a couple of others were closer to 20K), I've been doing some squats, push-ups etc but not able to swim properly because the pool is too small.
I'm hopeful that overall after a few days of being back I will see a drop (maintain at worst) ...actually if I don't drop I'll be a bit cross tbh
But for me I think logging even when blowing it is important0 -
Hey Rabbit,
Sounds like you are keeping well on top of everything!
Im going away to Spain on one of these all inclusive deals so going to try and just mind what I eat as the food is all cooked for me and get as many steps in as I can like you!
Hope you are enjoying yourself as well though!0 -
I just got back from 2 weeks all inclusive in Turkey. I went the hotel gym 11 days and did step twice and yoga once. Ate what I wanted but not stupid portions. I was drinking beer though which I normally avoid. I put 2lbs on which Im happy with - my past holiday weight gain has been 6-8lbs on previous holidays!!!!0

That's awesome going I think! Drink is always my downfall on holiday as I only really drink once a month at home so when im away I like to try different spirits/cocktails haha.
Hope you had a great time.0 -
I'm on holiday next week, if I maintain or add a couple of pounds it will be a result!.
No fixed plan for me, it's a holiday at the end of it all and made for relaxing and enjoying..0
