Any aspiring personal trainers out there?

Options
I'm hoping to have my ACE certification some time this year. Are there any other aspiring trainers out there? It would be awesome to connect and bounce ideas, share knowledge, etc. I still have a long way to go before I'll be the trainer I dream of being; but I learn a little more every day!

I haven't been on here long and would welcome new friends (not limited to aspiring PT's). Hope to hear from you!

Thanks for connecting! It's so awesome to see another mom that is living my dream. It makes it seem so much more attainable! :) Good luck on your LWMC cert! That is so cool. A PT friend of mine just passed the exam a month or so ago. Looking forward to getting to "know" you! :)

I started training after I lost 100lbs, I love it. There's not a better way to gain knowledge than through experience.

Hey there! I'm currently working on getting my ACSM PT certification done. It's super tough. I work full time hours and then some. Helping my girlfriend raise our son takes up a lot of time too. It's great to see a mom working hard on her health as well as her career too. Good luck and hope to hear from ya!

I have my ACE PT cert. Tough test, but worth it. I just had a client session today actually. It's a decent knowledge base to get. Feel free to ask if you have any questions on the cert of in general.

Me! I hope to complete my ACE certification by the end of May. I then would like to get an instructor certification for YogaFit and PiYo.

I only wish I had decided what I wanted to do with my life when I was younger and not so tired!

I've been ACE certified for years, along with numerous other personal training, group exercise, yoga, Pilates, aqua, etc., etc., etc. certifications. I think currently I'm at 14 certifications not counting the ones I've not renewed. The best thing about being a trainer is that you have to do all the CEC's to renew so you get to learn all about various modalities that you don't learn about in the general certification.

I'm also currently in a bachelors program in exercise physiology (with a minor in nutrition) so that I can sit for the ACSM Health and Fitness Specialist and NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (mentioned above) this year. Both of those require at least a Bachelors degree in exercise science or other allied health field. I'm getting both because they focus on completely different aspects of fitness. ACSM is more clinical setting focused and NSCA is more athletic setting focused. I also plan on going on for my masters in sports nutrition and doctorate in exercise physiology. I believe that the key to helping more people is to learn all I can. ;)

Hey- I went through and got my quals last year to become a personal trainer and I love it sooooo much! I have been teaching mostly group fitness type stuff including boot camps and spin classes.
It is sooooo interesting to learn all about exercise, you'll love it!!!

    Also looking into getting ceritfied!!

should be getting a call this afternoon from a rep about it actually. I'm thinking beginning of next year. or possibly late this year if i push myself!

I want to look the part, or atleast out perform the part!!

The trainers i've spoken to in the last few months have really shocked me by how little they actually know about everything too! so it be great to get out there and take advantage of this :p

One great example i saw in the gym this morning...
A new lady was starting with a trainer.

He was attempting to teach her how to squat and shoulder press. cool, exellent movements to teach a noob for sure!!!
BUT, his teaching techinque sucked harder than monika lewinski. And she was real keen to learn too!!!
the way he had her learning squat i just couldnt beleive..."hey dude, ever heard of box squats???, and tell her to keep her heals planted dammit!!! and stick that butt out...waaaayyy out!!!". so hard to keep my mouth shut with this guy, lol. but i dont wanna lose my membership!!!!

just is shocking. the last gym i was a member of though had great trainers! all seemed knowledgable and very capable on pretty much everything.

so much RAGE over trainers who are so incompetant!!! it you aint passionate about it!!! get out, lol.
