Hey! I have been trying hard to shift a stone since xmas but so far not even lost a lb! I have been on here a week on Sat so will weigh in again then but I am at the same weight I was after xmas, I exercise about 5 hours a week, I eat half of what I burn if I can so any extra will cover me on the weekend, I drink the water and count the food! Where am I going wrong?

  • Bodies are funny things! I've been doing well in general but every time I weigh I have no idea whether I'll have gne up, stayed the same or lost. I can gain as much as a pound in a day despite following all the 'rules', butthe next day it will come off again. I know it's not my scales and I also know I am weighing myself too often and allowing myself to become paranoid!
Since adding much more exercise my weight loss has slowed right down. But the good news is that this week I am definitely looking 'smaller' and more toned, despite the scales staying pretty much where they were. My advice would be to stick with it- it does work in the long term- but maybe look at the combinations of nutrients you are eating. It might help to lower your carbs a bit and stick to only complex carbs (anything brown is much better than anything white, for example) and add more protein. Stick with it and good luck! x
  • do you feel healthier? do you feel better? are the clothes fitting looser?

the numbers on the scale can be misleading. my scale says i gained 3-4 lbs this week, and yet i've lost a whole inch in my waist.

the numbers don't always reflect the work you're doing and the positive changes going in your body.

pls keep at it and know that you're healing and changing your body from the inside. everything WILL start to fall into place!!!

    g'luck! xoxo.
  • I am going to agree with Flossycat on this. It is very possible that you are doing everything right and your body is not losing the poundage, but possibly toning itself... You cannot weigh yourself daily, its not going to work that way... if you have set your goals, and are meeting your eating intake, supposedly you will lose the weight.. I cant say anything on the benefits, only because i have just begun this little adventure... I can however say that i have been complimented by a teacher today at my sons school that i do look like i am losing the gut. so maybe just maybe we may be on the right track. So don't give up. Keep working on it. There is bound to be progress somewhere along the lines. Ptchsdpsy

Don't just look at weight ... but look at your measurements too....

5 hours per week is quite a lot and I don't know if you're doing cardio or weights / strength training .... but if you are toning muscle, then this will mean you are losing fat as you gain muscle mass.

The net weight result seems like you are not losing but the good news is you are !!! The fat is going and you're gaining muscle which burns calories quicker :-)

Looking at your photos - you don't look like you're needing to lose any / a lot of weight anyway so also consider any weight loss as a percentage....

A 150Ib person losing 3Ib is actually achieving better results percentage wise than a 300Ib person losing 5Ib !!

If you are exercising and controlling calorie intake - then you are doing all of the right things!

It's hard to judge maybe open up your food diary (even to just friends) so we can see it could be a number of factors  One that I learned was that Sodium should be tracked and are you using a HRM or the figures here

Heading off to school now will pop in later :flowerforyou: also sent you a FR :drinker:
  • I know what you mean I am on the same boat as you. I started a week ago also and the scale has not moved. Some of my clothes are looser which is good but I would like to see the scale numbers go down. I was told muscle ways more than fat and that is why you see clothes looser and the scale either not moving or staying the same. I am frustrated but I think I will try less carbs but I have to be careful there cause I am diabetic ugh :frown: Hang in there if you want to add me you can. :flowerforyou:
  • Thanks guys, I hope it is because I dont have too much to lose, I love exercise so dont want to cut back on that and I cant eat much more! I do possible eat too many carbs so I will only have them once a day and see if that helps, I lknow you shouldnt go by the scales but when that number drops it is such good motivation, I weigh every day, some times twice a day I know im an obsessive weigher! I have taken my measurements yesterday so will see how they look in a week.....
