running shoes?

OK, I'm officially wearing holes into my shoes, its time for a new pair. I hated the last ones I had (Nike LE) and I need a new suggestion! I run/walk on everything, trails, track, roads, machines, you name it. I need good support for arches and pronation (I do own insoles though). I've also heard its good to own two pair and switch often, any opinions?
I was almost thinking Brooks PureFlow 3
What do you wear?

I would highly suggest going to a running shoe store and let them check your gate and high to toe strike and whatnot. They will recommend a few pairs for you to try on..... I tried several different brands just off suggestions over the years and never found a pair that I quite liked until I went to my Running shoe store... Having said that I do wear the Brooks Pure Flow line and those were the perfect shoe for me.... Best of Luck.....0

There was a post that I saved recently on this topic that was extremely helpful to me I hope it can help you!

This, if you do a fair bit of running go and get your gait analysed and then get them to suggest some of the hybrids (or as an excuse for more, buy a road running pair and a trail pair)!!0 -
I have teva tevasphere speedster 2s. Don't hate them....they are meant to help with heel sticking. I want some my next shoes will be Nike Lunars.0

Another recommendation to go visit a proper running store to have your feet and gait analyzed.
That being said, I also need good arch support and have a tendency to pronate. My current shoes are the Saucony Guide 6 (which has now been replaced by the Guide 7, I liked the colors of the 6 (I'm a sucker for anything pink!!) so I bought 4 pairs when they were being cleared out). Each time I visit my local running store they have me try at least one Brooks shoe, and so far I have never liked the way they feel. In the past I have worn the Saucony Stabil (hated them with a blinding passion, felt like I had bricks strapped to my feet); the Nike Equalon (loved them, but they were discontinued); and a whole bunch of different Mizuno and Asics models whose names escape me.0 -
Get fit ... if you run every day have more than one pair for rotation ... keep track of how far you run in them and replace before you start wearing holes in them.
Right now I have three pairs of shoes in rotation split between Merrell and New Balance (ok, actually four since there is a pair of rarely used trail runners in the closet as well). They are for running only. My retired shoes get the honor of running errands, driving, and walking around.
If you luck out and find that perfect make and model for your running style, stock up when they go on sale. I just found one of the Merrell styles I use on clearance ... under $25 for a new pair of shoes that will sit in the closet unused for another month or two as the current shoes in rotation rack up their miles until retirement.0 -
I'm an ASICS girl, but Saucony also makes excellent shoes!0

New Balance has been good to me.0

This, running shoes have a life of 300-500 miles, subject to your weight and gait.
Personally I have three pairs of road shoes and two trail shoes that I rotate.0 -
I loved my Brookss Pure Drift 2 .... but they were the worst lasting shoes (209km recorded in Strava!!) that I have owned (The tops wore out !! Holes .. they are light weight minimalist shoes - but so are my INOV-8s and that last way longer.)
Also, I'm no longer a fan of shop gait analysis ..... I personally find that looking at the ware pattern on the bottom of my old shoes tells me WAY more than some spotty 16 year old in a shop :-p
P.S recommending shoes for other people ... especially over the interweb is fraught with problems!!0 -
Yes, go and get fitted. I bought a pair of Saucony Kinvara 5s yesterday (which are fantastic, but wouldn't suit you as they are minimalist shoes) and was so pleased I had them fitted - normally I'm a size 5, but in the Kinvaras I needed a size 6.5! Running shoes are too expensive to get wrong :-)0

Fitting - yeap fully agree - as shoes do come up sized different between manufactures.,,,,,, Gait Analysis .. not so much (for me - I've been minimalist for a couple of years now and know what works for me.)0 -
I am a huge fan of Asics but you need to get to the store like everyone is saying there are more than pronation to factor in like your heel fitting and where you strike your foot etc.0

Thanks everyone!
I guess going to places like ****'s where they don't seem to know much, like if they even carry a certain brand, sort of discouraged me from trusting sporting goods store employees for advice.
I live in the country so my nearest Runners Roost is almost an hour away, but at this point I think its definitely worth the drive!0 -

Yeah my running store is 80 miles away one way and worth the drive...... Best of Luck0 -
Gait Analysis .. not so much (for me - I've been minimalist for a couple of years now and know what works for me.)
That said, getting to the stage where one is well enough informed to make the choices needs a period of taking the advice. My own experience of gait analysis, at Runners Need, was pretty good. Nowadays, I'm not bothering either.
However I did go through many years of making the wrong choices and consistently injuring myself when I tried to run.0 -

I can see that.0 -
